So... some of you have watched it, but nobody's made a thread? Shame shame!

To be honest, it wasn't the best movie I've ever watched, but amongst TV-Movie tie-ins, I'd rate it up there. The action was frantic at points and the laughs came fast and hard. There were slow portions, but it was a good balance, overall, between comedy, action, drama and the downright sur-realness that is the Simpsons.

It made me feel all warm inside watching this thing, because there was a lot up there on screen that reminded me of the "classic" Simpsons. So much so that it was painful to have to leave the theater at the end of the movie. There was so much more they could've done with it!

But then again, that's the genius of the show. Go out on a high note and leave you hanging. Two 👍 👍 way up. If the TV series ended now, with this, it'd be a wonderful way to go.

Favorite moment: the "you suckers!" scene... :D :D :D

Being completely honest, I didn't think it was overly spectacular, but that isn't saying it was a bad movie. I among many have been in belief that The Simpsons has been on a bit of a downhill as of late, overshadowed by shows like Family Guy, South Park, etc. But this being said, the movie really did shine in many moments simply because of the fact they didn't have to tone it down for TV.

But, it still felt like three Simpsons episodes sewn together (they even made a joke of it), and by the end I was happy it was over. It was a good movie, but it could have been better, I think. Maybe my standards were set too high, hoping that they would return to the "Glory Years" of the early/middle-seasons for material, but it didn't pan-out.

More so, I often felt as though some of the cameos were just there to be there, and furthermore, I kept wondering where some of the other characters were. Where was Sideshow Bob? Troy McClure? Poochie? Rainier Wolfcastle? Disco Stu? Kang and Kodos? Artie Ziff? And many more...

I enjoyed myself, and I'd recommend it to others, but it certainly could have been better (I think).

I really enjoyed the movie, but as niky pointed out, there were some slow portions in the movie which felt just a little boring at times. But overall, I think it's a great movie.

There are alot of hilarious moments, but if I had to pick a particular favourite, I think the part when Homer met the Boob Lady and was chanting along with her and 'dancing'..., that was great. 👍:D

EDIT : YSSMAN, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Rainier Wolfcastle the president?

I loved the movie. I'm so glad that it turned out way better than recent seasons. Though, I was also kind of disappointed that some of the minor characters weren't in it and I was expecting more celebrity cameo's.

Maybe... But it says "President Schwarzenegger" on his desk.

Favourite scene: Lisa's Hockey Stick graph... I :lol:ed so much.

Regarding President Schwarzenegger... that's the strange thing... maybe they couldn't reconcile the two? Same with Troy McLure, who, if the movie were made in a vacuum vis-a-vis the real world, would have probably been the EPA Director...

While I can't complain about the lack of extras (they seriously didn't have the space to do everyone, anyway...), the lack of cameos was a major disappointment.

My second favorite scene was the kissing-on-the-couch moment. Or the lack of it. :dopey:

My main problem with the movie (after much thought) has been that, while it didn't feel like 3 episodes sewn together for me, it was written as if it was one episode stretched out into an hour and a half. This doesn't ruin the plot so much for me (there were a couple of boring spots, but otherwise it was good and went in a totally different way then I was expecting) so much as it makes it unfunny. I was expecting something along the lines of 3 Simpsons episodes of comedy (I never really thought they would manage to bring back the awesome of the first half decade of the show), but I only really got 1 episode stretched out over 3 episodes time. It just wasn't as funny as I had hoped it would have been.
To put this into perspective, I only laughed a couple of more times than I did during Live Free or Die Hard, which was the second movie in the triple feature.

We finally dropped off our daughter with the in-laws and saw it. Kind of nice seeing it with only 6 other people in the theater.

It was as funny as expected, but it dragged a bit. Sort of like 3 or 4 episodes stitched together. Great gags, but it was sometimes uncomfortable to laugh by myself at some jokes that nobody else in a large room seemed to get...heh.
