My second car was the '05 STi, and I bought it over the '08 because of the horrible styling on the new model.

I had used the STi all the way to the A License, but some guys in the new model destroyed my '05. Anyways, my question is: How can the '08 be that much faster if (If I recall correctly) both models have 276 hp? I know there's new technology, but I don't think the performance difference should be so big.

Edit: Also, I was suprised how sticky the tires are, and how they launch the '08 from a stanstill, its really impressive acceleration.
 
They say it's only got 276hp but that's cause the Japanese government has some limit regulations where cars can only have a max power of 280hp. Don't quote me on this though because I don't know how the R35 goes into that equation. If you check the power again in the scrolling bar of stats down the bottom in the garage view, it should change to something more realistic.

It was the same with the R34 GTR. How a 2.6L straight 6 twin turbo can only make 276hp is anyone's guess. The actual models made more like 340hp but Nissan had to claim they made 276hp.

It wasn't any kind of regulation, just a "gentleman's agreement" and they got rid of that a while back so they could compete with the European and American markets.

The GTR is classed as something else than a sports car. ( I believe)
 
Don't the new STI is over 300 BHP?
And 05 Bit below 280?

Specs were taken form Prologues website.
 
The good old sexually transmitted infections, i like them alot prefer the older one more throwable around if you ask me.

ik heard Clarkson saying it is limited to a 180 KM / 112 MPH in japan. pretty poor or a car like that.
