Hi guys,
I am an automotive journalist who runs two blogs titled "theLOUDpedal" (http://theloudpedal.tumblr.com/) and "Wheel Life" (http://wheelife.wordpress.com/). I am currently beginning work on a feature story regarding touge racing, helped made famous by the beloved anime series "Initial D." Before writing this story, I need to gather some information on touge racing, such as its history, influential people, rules, etc.
If you would be willing to answer a few questions, just respond to the questions written below. Or, if you don't feel like you could adequately enough answer these questions but you know someone else who might, please see if you could put me in contact with that person. This article will be going public once I have received all the information necessary and have typed up the piece, SO feel free to read it along with the other articles that will be published on the blogs.
Questions:
1. Where/How did touge racing get its start in Japan?
2. It is argued by some that the Europeans had, prior to touge racing's emergence in Japan, already been doing a similar form of racing on public roads. Does this argument hole any accuracy, or is this style of racing something that the Japanese really introduced to automotive culture?
3. How did touge racing's popularity change as the years went by? Did the racing style see a slow and steady rise, or was there a sudden boom in touge racing's popularity? How did Initial D's emergence impact touge racing's popularity?
4. Describe the general rules for touge racing.
5. Who were/have been some of the most influential people in regards to touge racing?
6. What are some of the most popular cars in touge racing? Is there a preference regarding FWD, RWD, or AWD? If so, why?
7. How do participants in touge racing keep an eye out for oncoming cars and law enforcement?
8. If you personally have a touge racing story you'd like to share, feel free to do so.
Thanks for all of your help, and I'll let you guys know when the article is finished.
