This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

The Surprisingly Human Process of Adding Concept Cars to Gran Turismo

The Vision Gran Turismo program is back in the spotlight with the recent reveal of the Opel Corsa GSE Vision GT. It’s a striking concept, blending the brand’s hot-hatch heritage with a futuristic electric powertrain, and it’s a welcome addition to the growing Vision GT lineup...

I’d even say more like the BMW VGT. AMG did well with their VGT car. I feel the manufacturers that went a bit wild are Aston Martin and Dodge. Just totally off the scales for the GT cars they are known for.

Maybe a more refined Viper type VGT would have been better.
Hyundai could have been more like the 74 Concept model. Even a WRC type car like what Opel have done. However, they have their eyes on center stage events.

I’m curious to see if Ford are still coming to the table and I’d like to see Renault chime in with a design.

some see the vgt program in a different way, dodge thought " what if we go nuts?"
Inversely, some just slap a bodykit to an existing (concept) car and call it a day. The CX.R is a recent example, coincidentally with the base car (CX) also present in the game.

I like the VGT's, but their implementation into the game they're literally made for is awful, they can barely be raced anywhere, none can be modified, not even rims, many cant even be adjusted, oh, and they're also very game-braking, like the Tomahawk X being priced lower than most Gr.1cars.

At least in GT6 you could modify some of them and even swap-out their rims, but GT7 is pointlessly restrictive.

And in GT6, they would host a week-long event each time a new VGT came out, I think you had to beat the VGT's laptime to win it for free, that was pretty neat.

Also, it still saddens me they removed the only realistic VGT, the Fittipaldi EF7, that was the only one I loved driving, and it was originally slated for small scale production as a trackday toy.

Have any of you ever played NFS Carbon?

There was this neat tool called Autosculpt that let you customize your car pretty wildly.

This would also be great for GT, allowing you to give your cars a very personal touch.

Here a Sample

They use rock paper scissors? Draw names out of a hat? Draw straws? Origami? Hehe. Nah. This was a really cool insight to how they communicate with the manufacturers. I love hearing how GT and PD work and create things. It’s really cool to get that type of information and get a little understanding of the process behind it all. I wanna hear more and more about how Gran Turismo is created it’s fascinating stuff imo.
