Just to appease those who queried whether I'd ever post a question in here...

It was once estimated that 99% of £10 notes circulating in the City of London were impregnated with traces of cocaine - successfully, young, thrusting city bankers were spending their hard-earned on coke and snorting it up through rolled up tenners.

So my question is this...


What exactly does cocaine smell like?


After all, it's taken nasally - and drughounds detect cocaine on couriers by its scent...
 
There was a video on newsnight a few weeks back on how Cocaine is made. It was enlightening to say the least. Some of the crap they put into it, no wonder it gives you interesting effects.
 
I never noticed it having a smell.

But it makes your nose/whole face go numb, so I'd imagine it might stop you from smelling anything.
 
It can reduce your ability to smell drastically after a period of heavy usage, until then though: gasoline.

Does this not come under the category of discussing illegal activities? Since anyone who actually knows what Cocaine smells like will either be a Narc or a user?
 
I've heard the same thing about bills here in the U.S.

I guess as snoopie says "gasoline".
 
Actually, it smells more like paint thinner than gasoline. You can actually tell the strength/purity of your cocaine by the smell. Obviously coke that is cut will have a smell like whatever it is cut with. For example, around here people tend to use baby laxative as their cut. The more the coke is cut with the baby laxative, the more it smells like powdered milk (you will also find out its cut with baby laxative as soon as you do your first line and run for the washroom). After you do it for a while, you tend to learn what certain smells are associated with when you smell your stash. Tylenol/other pills tend to give your blow a medicine bottle smell, while powdered sugar makes it smell and taste sweet.

It’s legal for medicinal uses in parts of Europe and Australia.

Also, keep in mind there’s some flexibility built into the AUP – if we were truly strict about it, we wouldn’t even allow anybody to talk about speeding. We’re strict on illegally downloading music because it’s pure, outright stealing – conversely, issues like crack use or speeding are rather tenuous at best.

Anyway, not to bring the thread off-topic, but just wanted to point that out.
 
Damn, and I was hoping to be able to report Famine for it! :scared: I can tell you that meth and speed have no strong smell, but you can tell the strength and purity by taste, the same does go for coke, although with a slightly stronger smell.
 
You seriously aren't considering coke are you Famine?

Just kidding. I guess you'll just have to mix the common properties in the right manner to find out. But then again, SRV2LOW4ME sounds stangely familiar with it so I'll take his word for it.

I didn't know it was legal for use in Australia (on medicinal grounds). A strong anaesthetic from what I gather.

I'd never use cocaine though.
 
It doesn't have too much of a smell really. I'd imagine, like SRV said, that it takes on the smell of whatever it is cut with, so usually baking soda around here.

Hurting others = bad illegal / Hurting yourself = stupid illegal. Maybe that should be more implicitly stated... :D

And unburnt weed has a wonderful smell, as it just smells like herbs. The smoke, though, is quite unique. There really is no smell similar.

Not much flavor, though :D
 
'I've been told' it has very little smell to it. However, it's usually cut with other white powders like glucose or, i've heard, even washing powder if you are unlucky. So it is more likely to smell of those substances. Sniffer dogs are obviously much more sensitive to smell than humans and can sniff fragrances that we wouldn't even register.

I've heard that it has an incredibly bitter, dry taste to it. It's also easy to tell if it's cocaine or not by whether or not it makes your mouth go numb when it comes into contact with the lips or gums.
 
I don't and don't want to know.
This is weird but i love the smell of petrol. :crazy:

Sticking a small amount of it to your tongue will produce a small tingle followed by a numb feeling in the applied area. The actual taste is hard describe but Max Powers is right when he says it is a tad bitter. Again though, the taste of "street" cocaine depends on whatever its cut with.
 
It's just another word for what it's mixed with, since what is available on the street is almost never pure. Usually it's mixed with baking powder or something similar in order to make it less pure and also to make more out of less.
