Now i have been around GTplanet for a while and i love the GT series. i have been buying the games all the time. I got GT 1 in 1998, and GT2 in late 1999 and i have beat both of them. and of course the next thing would be GT3...but bad luck came in. My parents would not get me PS2 or let me buy if i had the money. so i could not enjoy the GT3 experience  . however this christmas i am getting PS2 and GT3 and i can't wait! :D Now what I am asking is that you fill in a question i have for GT3.

Is the game harder than GT2 or just longer?

Also what should i expect? Whats different? I would like to know!

Now i know the whole premise of the game, as i have been following its progress since it was GT2000.

I just want your judgement. Is the game harder or just longer? And what should i expect.

So please inform me and tell me because on Dec.25 it's gonna be one excellent day, and i want to know what to see. :)

Gee-zus, how old are you? Cut some lawns and BUY the damn thing!
Yeah, it's the best driving sim yet, but the way you sound, you're gonna be disappointed.
It's harder and easier both, for the same reason: the "e-motion" graphix and sim engine. The movement physix and the resolution and richness of the graphix make it seem as if you're watching live video. Impossible to overstate how much better than previous driving sims. Only SegaGT2000 (yeah, yeah, Xbox, that's right, I love that one game too!) competes.
So it's so realistic that at 1st it's harder, but after you learn how to drive, you find the game's inner world so consistent, that you find yourself being able to chart your improvement, without random mishaps frustrating your development. Practice pays off.
All that said, I still unabashedly love the thing, even after 18+ months. Hope you enjoy it as much too.

All I can say I am in the same situation as ur in.. but, I still can't get one! ARGH!

I never really played GT2(I had an n64, what a waste of money) , so i cant compare GT3 to Gt2 really. I rented GT2 when i first got my PS2 though. GT3 is reasonably hard, like most games should be. However, the only parts that are considerably difficult are a few of the license tests and the Vitz Series. License test S-8 comes to mind, for example. I hated that one. It took me months to finally pass that one. Some of the TTs are difficult too, but you can pass them. If I can do it, you can. GT3 is long too, I think it took me just short of a year to beat it. Thats with other things in life though, If I could play games 24/7 i would. Its worth the effort.

okay, where to start...

take everything you know from GT2, and shove it in the trash. it's a totally different game.

the game is harder, and somewhat longer than GT2. the races are much more longer. 5 lap races are Amateur level, be prepared for 20+ laps in the Pro level. the darned random prize car makes things even worse, as you have to reload various times to get the car you want (i'm sure you already saw how to do this trick, if not, it's been covered a good number of times, just search! :) )

the license tests are a medley of various tests from GT and GT2, with a few new things put in for good measures.

the Vitz cup will drive you mad, be sure to do it the PR way!

1. Start your PS2.

2. Get your pink or light blue Vitz that you won from the Vitz Beginner cup.

3. Try to do the cup once.

4. Fail.

5. Shut off the PS2.

6. Put on steel toed boots.

7. Go to the bank, take all the money in your bank account.

8. Head to the airport and take the next flight to Tokyo.

9. When you arrive to Tokyo, rent a Vitz at a local car rental shop.

10. Beat the crap out of it.

11. Head over to Polyphony Digital.

12. Find the moron who thought it would be a good idea to include a Vitz Cup.

13. Kick is a$$ so hard his coccyx will end up in dust...

14. Head back home.

15. Repeat step 1,2 and 3.

16. If you fail, repeat step 4 to 14.

basically the search feature will tell you a lot more than i can think of... :)

I have heard of the infamous Vitz race...what makes it so difficult? You should be able to tune your car to the max and beat the other vitz's.

they're tuned as well as your car, not to mention they never make any mistakes. just put the hardest tires you can buy, and hope for the best.

PunkRock adheres to the "Don't Pit!" strategy when faced with tough opponents. That cop-out will only work when the opponents pit.

Sometimes, they don't.....
Remember what I said about practice?.......

after runing the race once for practice you should be able to establish whether or not they pit and base your strategy around that :)

but back to the topic.....

it's a really beautiful game. I love it but cant play as much as i want cause my tv is shared by 4 ppl (and some1 always seems to want to watch something (and they are all gurls...)).. after xmas i am gettin a tv in the bedroom so i can lock myself away (no room atm).
is it realistic tho?
No it isnt, there is no damage, and the driving phisics are not real. But if u want real buy toca racedriver. but saying that, I think the fact that it isnt realistic makes it more playable. TOCA's stearing and accelerator/barke are too sensitive for a duel shock controller. I played it and spent more time off the road than on!!

gt3 is a very playable sim that has a hell of alot going for it and is highly recomended.... the forst thing u win realize is a lack of cars tho (apparently gt2 has twice the cars), but still over 100 of them.

If you like rally tho, dont buy this game thinking u are getting a good rally game. instead buy cmr3 or wrc/2.

er... that enuff :p

Everything is different. :)

For starters, the much improved graphics actually make driving easier. Instead of small glob, you'll see the road curving off in the distance. The smoother framerates also ease judging turns, etc.

The control is much more precise. GT2 feels like a really cheap R/C car by comparison. Stiff, unresponsive and hard to make fine adjustments.

The loss of cars is a disappointment, but you'll still find plenty to like. I was a little baffled by the loss in sound quality though. GT2 captured the individual sonic signatures of the cars much better. GT3 is like GT1 in that the sounds are flatter...more generic. Oh well...

it's harder, but shorter, if you count the individual car races in GT2. GT3 has about 22% of the casr GT2 does, but the tremendous leap in graphic quality will take the emphasis off what it doesn't have.
the game has a much different layout than the other 2...all the car dealers are in the same place, the races are separated into skill levels, there's a GT Auto ( ), you can now own 200 cars, which is more than there are in the game.
you'll like it...
