I have this car but have not got round to trying it, I am however amused at how absolutely rubbish it is in certain circumstances when racing as an AI car in B-Spec Mode.

I grind B-Spec for money by sticking my Red Bull in the Dream Car Championships and leaving it to win by miles. Now three of the five races can be wet, especially the Sarthe and Nurburgring ones and there is a rubbish glitch where all the AI cars will start on Race Hard tyres even when it is pouring down, meaning they have to limp round a lap and then pit to put on the right tyres.

So you have my Red Bull miles out in front with the right tyres on, then you have a clump of 10 cars with the wrong tyres on separated by 30 or 40 seconds and then you have the Mazda RX7 LM which appears to be driven by someone's short sighted grandmother. Every single time the weather is wet it falls a huge amount of distance behind the rest of the pack who have the same set up and same tyres. He drives along at 50 or 60mph for most of Sarthe, maybe 80mph on the long straights, large chunks of the technical bits of Nurburgring at 30mph. As I type he has just completed the first lap of Sarthe in 9:08, well over a minute slower than the 11th placed car.

He does pick up speed with the right tyres on but is still the slowest of all the AI cars in wet conditions. Anyone else seen a car this bad when on wrong tyres or in wet weather in general?

It's not horrible.. about on par with similar cars really.

Who knows what's going on with the races you describe though. B-spec is so goofy I don't put any thought into it at all. :)

The RX-7 LM is an amazing car, better the the RX-8 LM I believe.
Bob makes everything look useless.
He manager to spin that crappy thing known as the X1 at High Speed ring.

This is just because PD didn't do a very good job of performance scaling. Everyone else in the field usually has about 50-100 HP more than stock, but the RX-7 LM doesn't.
It is similar to when the AI drives the TVR Cerbera Speed 12. It is scaled down in performance far more than what the Opponent List says, and it suffers immensely for it. But when you drive it, it is a monster.

It is pretty well matched against the rest of the AI field in that championship in the dry though. In those races it is usually towards the tail end but beats the FTO Touring Car and others typically.

Put it in the wet on the wrong tyres and the comparable drop off in performance is vast.

I've had the same thing once, at nurburg, the rx-7 did a lap in the rain of, wait for it, 21 minutes!!!

The RX7 isnt the only car treated like that by PD lol. The Oreca Vipers and C5R are woefully slow for previous, dominating Le Mans entrants in RL not to mention the poor Audi R10 TDI which is consistantly at the tail end or mid pack of the field though its much faster than the older R8 gasoline version in RL. Lots of RD still needs to be done with Bspec. Such an unsatisfying job done.

Seeing as I've done a few minutes quicker in a stock 2CV.
Not to sound harsh but that seems to be more of an operator error.

I think it was a AI error, or the AI was really enjoying his time on the Ring..

Or did you think I was driving the Rx7? That would be funny.

Oh, and the Rx7 was already on rain tires, and he did not pit for new tires after his first lap....

I seem to notice the wrong tires choice by AI drivers a lot. It may be a glitch but every time there's a rain race in B-spec Dream car championship, AI drivers always end up using the same tires they used the race before and having to pit on first lap for correct tires. Same thing happens after a rain race, AI driver drive the next track (assuming it's a dry track) with rain tires and having to pit on the first lap for the correct tires. This gives an unfair Disadvantage towards your competition and makes the race very 1 sided.

I think its because it has low hp compared to the other cars and if you've ever driven it you'd know that 20b wankel with 600 hp = tail happy as hell.
