Alright...after a trial and error experiment with both a racing wheel and the controller (both analog and d-pad) i have come upon a very important discovery...

there is absolutely no difference between racing and drift in arcade mode!!! i think this should be added to the GT3 FAQ because this question was brought up a while back and never was really answered with good evidence...but anyway...here it is!

:)

I have noticed a differance. In racing, whenever I fishtailed I either gained or lost no speed, but in drift I lost speed when i fishtailed.

trust me dude...there is no difference...just talk to the makers of the game...it was a mistake they made because they didn't have the time to add the fine details before the release date...that's what i've heard

How many of these mistakes are there in the game?! There was supposed to be a way to do four player on two PS2s, that didn't happen either. I heard something about rain, apparently that didn't materialize. They dropped the car damage aspect all together, instead of doing it right.

There are more that I can't think of right now ...

yup i agree...it all has to do with the amount of time they had to release the game....

quite frankly, i don't think rain and snow would have been implemented because that takes a LONG time...but night and day effects in an enduro race would be nice

I just don't know... The GT series isn't some slapped together, home-grown hobby - it's a multi-million dollar project which goes through hundreds of hours of testing and development. If they didn't have time to incorporate the two different styles of racing, why wouldn't they simply remove the option to select either one?

It's just careless error I suppose. Very irritating.

thats weird that you dont notice anything because it shouldnt be that hard to make a swith from racing to drift. Drift just has looser suspension settings right? I think theres lots of stuff they left out, that should be in the next game life drag racing and damage. lets just hope that makes it in the next game

Stuff like that is probably left in because they will eventually release add ons that will put into affect the small stuff they glossed over when finishing the game.

We need to ask this question after mess of GT2?

As a reminder:
- couldn't actually complete the game
- drag cars but no drag strip
- lap record shown on screen, but didn't actually work
- first release of GT2 in the US had more bugs than a Microsoft first release at a cockroach infested conference centre and was recalled

snow??? SNOW???? that would be f:mad::mad:king awesome!!! use DRT on the snow! (DRT: Dirt Racing Tyres) watch cars slip 'n' slide on ice b/c they 4got to change off their slicks! :rotfl:

also, there is a difference. i was racing my dad one day. i chose racing style, my dad chose drift style. the track chosen was Midfield Raceway. he could not go around a corner without sliding the back of the car out. it kept getting all kitty-wompus on him. i learned some new swear words to yell at the t.v. that day...:rotfl:

I would just like to see the real damage. At least in gt2 it messed up your wheels in arcade.Lets face it though as much as we want`em to they will never create the perfect game for all of us.

yeah i would i think it would be great.well in gt2 the wheels would get bent in arcade mode,if you had damage on
i think damage would have to be an option though.

bent rims? that would not be cool if you spent 500 on those rims. not cool at all. did your car handle differently or make noises, like in Microsoft's Midtown Madness 2?

Rice do mr persistance's race, and do it on Racing then Drift with ASM and TCS off and you will notice a huge difference. I am positive that there is a difference you just havent used the right car yet, the 787B is a perfect test subject on this matter (with ASM and TCS off)
