Hi guys, thus forum helped me a lot so I'm going to share my technique of keeping my g27 cool even with a modified heavier wheel (mines 320mm just under 1kg). I found after my swap the wheel heats up much quicker... And if you try drifting at 10 Ffb like u always did the wheel would Overheat in 5 mins or so.

All I did was take a hot water pack, throwin in the freezer with water and elastic band it to the g27. Keeps it cool even at 10 and seeing how fat my ice is, it will last quite a while.

Go set Ffb to 10, swap the wheel, reverse mount with pedal mod and your g27 feels VERY nice like a new wheel. Haven't tried the fanatec or thrustmaster wheels but I feel the improvement over stock g27 is 65%. It's like a car waiting for potential to be unlocked.

Lol, that's a new one. Hey, as long as it works! Are you worried about water dripping in through the top at all?

No there is only slight moisture because of the small frozen particles from water freezing outside of the hot water bag. I periodically checked because I'm a worrywart and there is no problem, I even think it helps the heat transfer because of the contact patch...kind of like thermal paste.

The results speak for themselves, FFB 10, drifting between me and my brother and the g27 performs like the first corner, does not lose power, does not become all mushy, and the detailed ffb comes through even after 10 mins. The ice is extremely effective at cooling the g27. The ice pack does not fall off or come loose at all, and all I have is one quite loose elastic band as seen in the picture. I am hard mounted, so don't expect this with the clamps. I can't believe I never did this before. The ice barely melted after a 1hr session-I went to eat and threw it in the freezer, then off we go again after dinner. I'd expect that block of ice to last for a 6hr session. It took the wheel modification for the overheating and power loss to finally grab my attention; on the stock wheel you don't notice the loss in power as much because the way too small terribly inefficient wheel design (to accommodate the 6 buttons) does not allow you to really grab the wheel.

I honestly feel my wheel is superior to a stock t500 except for spin speed and power. The ffb algorithm is widely regarded as better and now I can have it at 10 and not lose power which is the biggest drawback of any wheel especially the small g27 that overheats quick.

That's great, it's awesome to be satisfied with a mod isn't it? Puts a big 'ole grin on my face when everything comes together, that's for sure!

Such a simple but effective mod...i think every g27 user should do this...also put saran wrap covering the g27 just in case there is any moisture leaking into the motor :)
