OK, reading through "The Ultimate Ferrari?" thread was very interesting, it sparked good conversation and all the while I was learning more about Ferrari by the second.👍 So as I said, why not do it with other brands?💡 Let's get the ball rolling with Jaguar.:)

For me, I'm going to go with shiny and new, the new Jaguar XKR-S.

My goodness, it just looks pure sexy. I bet that supercharged direct injection V8 sounds beautiful too.:)

What could be better than a road going D-Type, the XKSS:

Others worthy of mentioning:

C-Type

D-Type

E-Type

XJ220

Not strictly a Jaguar, but IMO better than the XJS, The Lynx Eventer

I still can't believe how long the E-Type's bonnet was.:sly:

I am probably the only person to think this but I can't stand the E type (I like the engine though for it's day).

I like the cars preceeding and including the D type but not E.

But my Ultimate Jaguar is a pretty predicatable XJ220, I remember many years ago watching Jeremy Clarkson drive one under heavy acceleration and the Cassette player flew out of the console, then saw one in real the flesh when it was at the docks just imported (I was there as my father also imported cars), always had a soft spot for them even with it's flaws.

and only that one. The thing it was based on wasn't all that good.

On Bathurst!

(Back when touring cars was good in Australia)

The XKR-S is at least 8 months old now, and the ultimate Jag is, and always will be the D-Type.

I have to agree, the D-Type and the XKSS are pretty much the ultimate Jaguars - and probably will be for the foreseeable future.

That being said, I might sneak one of these in, I've always thought it was a beautiful design, especially for 1966. It might not be ultimate (maybe in exclusivity, since there only is one), but it sure is nice. ^^

In general, I'm a XJS kind of guy. But, the car that made me fall in love with Jaguar in an age of "overdone" Germans was the XJR:

Its still one of several "why would you want that" cars that I want in my personal collection later in life.

For me it's probably the XJ220, but another notable mention:

1991-92 XJR-15

Mechanics based on the XJR-9 and styled by the same guy that did the McLaren F1.

It's hard to pinpoint one car to define Jaguar. I think the E-Type, the XJ-S and the whole XJ series are probably the cars I would choose to represent the brand. Those three pretty well cover everything Jaguar stood for up until now.

Nice choice by The Cracker on the D-Type - one of the most beautiful race cars of all time, IMO.

So I choose two Jaguar concepts as the ultimate Jags - giving us a modern D-Type, effectively. If only Jag had bothered making them...

XJ220S, by TWR. On PS3 so no pics yet!

I'd be inclined to agree with you there, it looks brilliant in this colour, and with 680bhp it goes!

As for people saying the XJR-15, despite the brilliant recipe for it, it was a pig.

Jaguar XF-R... finally the benz e-class amg has a competitor...

Or how about the even sweeter Bonneville ride...

Don't know if someone already posted this...

I don't think they have made enough cars to warrant that. Ultimate BMW or some brand more mass market would produce more variety.

I think that there are plenty of special editions of the Zonda, perhaps enough to warrant a thread. I think the hardest part would be deciding just what characterizes the brand. They don't exactly have enough history to do that.

Sorry guys, but that XJ220S TWR looks like a rich ricer got their hands on one to me.:indiff: IMO, Jaguars have to be beautiful, with a hint of sportiness and a luxury attitude.:)
