Having never actually heard of Nardo my initial reaction was that image was the result of someone getting high and using Paint.

Pretty cool complex but the site lists "Unmade track" for a few of the runs.

When Gran Turismo Concept was released, KY mentioned that it was the first of hopefully more Gran Turismo spin-off's to follow. He said that a GT: Autocross title was a possibility. I have not heard Autocross (as far as making your own course, etc) as a definite possibility for GT4. We only know so far that there are Gymkhana (sp) License Tests.

The huge "bowl?" Polyphony Digital wants to put college football in the game? It would probably be the "Polyphony Digital Bowl." It would probably be Ohio State vs. Oklahoma or something.

Anyhow, I released a topic last month or so about if the Test Track is better off for testing or racing. If you search for it on GT4, I've sparked a good conversation about it. Many have voted that the Test Track from ToCA 2 was the best. I know it is a great track because I played it as a ported track for Sports Car GT (SCGT) on my computer. You start on an oval, but you can race any available road on the track. Fantastic idea.

The "Ultimate Test Facilit"y has that big circle like you're asking PD to put in the Bonneville Salt Flats racing event. That super-long track on the bottom is a little unrealistic. Cars will be on their rev limiter. Best to have high speed turns to make things easier on the engine. I know engine failure won't possible in GT4, but it's not really realistic unless you have a dragster, and even they reach their top speed rather easily. But still some nice track ideas.

Ah that looks ace, reminds me of the test course in Mercedes Benz World Racing. I agree the buttom track is way to long but other than that it looks great.

The Millbrook Testing Facility in the UK would be great as well.
It also has a high speed testing bowl, handling circuits, alpine routes, and more. I think PD actually went there when they recorded sounds and took photograps of cars.

This site lists almost all the constructors facilities, Nardo is there too. As is Fiorano (Ferrari), Leipzig (Porsche) and Lommel (Ford) in Belgium, where Jaguar did high speed tests with the F1 car.

And check out La Mandria (Fiat), that one looks awesome !!!

They even have the Top Gear track listed !!! (Dunsfold)

I read an article in a magazine explaining they have an additionnal project to build a replica of the nordschleife in Nardo...

It sounds really ambitious as Nardo if flat as the sea... but the aim is to take advantage of the track complexity for the car makers with always nice wheather ( this is the only disadvantage of the nordschleife...)

this was a really interresting article to read...

Nardo would become THE place to test prototypes ....

For info, Nardo is the place VW used for W12 records in the past years.

I read somewhere that Honda has its own replica of the Nordschleife in Japan. I don't remember where it was, but it was a reliable source.

Me and my friends had a argument few years ago about how to spend a lottery prize of 100 million $.

We agreed that builing a exact Monte Carlo replica for rent to F1 teams and private drivers would be a perfect way to reinvest money and have somehing really unique for fun purposes.

Bad was that lottery prize was won somewhere in US, 6000 miles form us.

But it was an idea to remeber.

That's a really interesting link to all the test tracks. It's obvious now looking at all the companies that own the tracks, but I hadn't thought of it before.

I wouldn't mind Nardo and Milbrook in GT4. I think I also saw something on TV about the Ascari track being made up of famous corners from other tracks. So that would be nice as well.


As good as it is looking at real tracks from around the world, I've enjoyed the tracks Polyphony Digital have made.

Actually it would be pretty cool to make your own track but think about all the space and time it would take to create a track for example the trees and stuff?

I'd find it pretty hard to believe anyone had a replica of the Nordschleife out there.
