This might be a stupid question and I know most of you will say
It came about with the Japanese culture or something like that.
But I'll ask the question anyway

Who created drifting?

I mean to think about it, its pretty amazing someone came up with that idea.
Although back then the drifts weren't probably as long as it can be done now but still its some amazing s***.
And I am thankful of it

Smart ass.

Actually it started with guys driving around in the mountains and getting a rush when the car would let loose for a second. Eventually it became "the thing to do" until its current institution where they do that on tracks.

Wrongo, Chariots sliding around the corners

Yes it all started out with the "guys in the mountain"
But in order it to be "guys", you need a "guy" first
The "guy" who felt it first, the guy who felt the rush
What I was really asking was do you have appreciation toward the "guy"

If you don't want to read my stuff, hit the back key. Well for the rest of you,
here's something to think about

I've noticed throughout this fourm there were many questions as in "how"
Many will agree that with great technique, you are a great drifter.
But are you really?
I've seen many drifters, many with great tech
But beyond that, nothing more
You see many teens into drifting today. Most with great skills.
But nothing more.
Its seem many of only imitate what they see and just leave it like that
Of course, later on they hone their skills and become greater.
But still, they are bound by their skills

What I really wanted to say is most (not all), but most, lack the appreciation toward drifting and the person who started it all. Not the "guys" but the "guy" who felt it first.

By the time you finish reading this you will be
1. what the **** is this ****er talking about
or
2.

If you understood me you will know the second answer

Everyone on this fourm has great skill.
Not that everyone on here has no appreciation
But with true appreciation, your skills will become more innovative, personal, and original

Sorry to be all serious and s***
Just had to say something to all that thinks they know everything

By the way, I thought drifting started in the ocean?!

i was looking something one tv about drifting(srry forgot what) and they said that it started like in initial d.

poeple delivering stuff and making slides to go fster and stuff.

one of the apex team people( the one who did the commentary for teh digp in the us) said taht.

it started with a guy that was delivering Tofu to the top of the mountain and the order was almost late, so he rushed in and his car started to slide and he started to get intrested and starteed doing that finding ways to make his car slide. His name was Bunta Fujiwara ;)

wohoaa wohoaa... calm down there buddy.... don't get to excited.... :dopey:

I always thought it was dori dori a.k.a Keichi Tsuchya, because he started expirementing back in the 70's he's the oldest person I know that can drift like that, so I figured, since he's named drift king he might have thought it up too. Or, he could've been the one to "invent" the sport. I mean, drifting originally wasn't a sport. It just, well, HAPPENED. Tires back then weren't too good, so naturally the back end would slide. Drivers would try to control it. I guess someone just thought that this naturally occuring action was FUN, and practiced "sliding" the car with a tiny amont of control. I don't know why they named it "drifting" though. Just my opinion here.... :)

who knows? who cares? we drift....theres a guy named keiichi tsuchiya(sp?) hes good....thats all i need to know...

also...STOP MAKING USLESS THREADS!!!! ITS FREAKING ANNOYING!!!!! :grumpy:

dude, that's the second time you've done that. Treat others how you wanna be treated okay? No one goes to threads you made and says that. BE NICE. It myay be useless to you but if you take a look other people have posted....do youthink they'd post if they found it annoying or useless? Someone just had a thought, you don't need to go around to every thread saying the same thing.

ok ok jeeze, im jst getting tired of all theses stupid threads that have nothgin to do with drifting and belong in the other forum.....take this thread for example...it has nothing to do with gt3 so, it should be here and the BOV thread....it has nothing to do with gt3 drifting exxcept that in his video, he drifts...the thread is not about drifting but the BOV....

ps. im too lazy to fix my spelling errors....but you can read it...

calm down monkey lol -_-; We all feel your pain... (TD you are one crazy ass... lol)

drifting was created when two monkeys(before man) runnin around on tree and the one monkey started to slide down a branch... it since has evolved from that....

I don't know for sure, but I would say it's like most things. There is no single 'inventor'.

It's foolish to say that, if it wasn't for one particular person, noone today would be drifting. Many people would figure it out eventually if they drove a car at the limit for long enough.

It's not even possible to tell who was the first person to drift a motor vehicle. Whoever you say it is, how do you know someone couldn't have done it before, but just not register it with anybody else.

With a little feel and skill and experience, drift would be a natural progression from simple sliding, just into a more controlled form. IMO, drifting is an art, not something that was invented.

I would say 'invent' is the wrong word for drift. 'Discover' would be more appropriate.

"It just, well, HAPPENED." - That's as good a description as any.
