I read in the paper that in the US, The Village was originally going to have an R rating. The movie was given a PG-13 instead. The lead sound designer said they had to take out one sound effect to make it drop one rating in order to reach a larger audience.

The article didn't say what sound effect it was because it didn't want to ruin the movie, but I have seen it and I was wondering what that sound could have been.

Does anyone actually know what sound they had taken out?

I mean the movie couldn't have been that much scarier with just one extra sound.

Well that sounds like total B******T they dont change a movie rating for a sound effect what paper you readin the We Smoke Crack daily that does not make any sense

How dare you accuse the Toronto Star of making up news? What paper are YOU reading? The We're Ignorant Morons Who Don't Use Periods Because We Just Ain't Got No Time For Punctuation Gazette? The guy was asking a question, if you don't know the answer then shut up.

sorry for not beliving that crap they do not change a rating because of a sound I live in hollywood and i know many producers and many other important people i know the producer of the village personaly and he told me that they did not do what your crappy lying paper says he said that they had to edit out a word W-O-R-D not a sound not only is the paper crappy it didnt get its story right in the first place

You also don't spell PERIODS right. And for someone who I am supposed to believe "lives in Hollywood" and "knows the director of The Village personally" your original response to this thread would have logically been to tell us these facts and then explain how the Toronto Star's story was a little off on its facts. That you failed to mention this initially and instead said it wasn't true at all (though it partially is true) and that it must have been a slow news day and they just made something up, shows me you may live in Hollywood, but the only connections you have are through your cable company.

Does your Village producer friend (quick, what's his name again? you should know it pretty well, right?) know about your horrible punctuation? He probably does, with all those personal greeting cards you send him every year for his birthday and all...

You are the GTP embodiment of a lame-o. Know what that is? Ask M. Night, 'cause his movie is lame-o too!
