Welcome to Round 3! Congrats to all of those who have made it so far. Special thanks to darkwind for creating this challenge. And if the cars aren't equal - point your finger at him

We've got our hands on some Elises, straight from Britain.

All times must be done at Las Vegas. Please read and follow all rules.

Elite Elise

-You may use any Elise listed below:
Restrictions:Each car MUST be equipped with the parts listed. All parts that don't modify weight or horsepower are legal.

Motor Sport Elise
-HP and Weight Upgrades: None

Lotus Elise
-HP and Weight Upgrades: Racing Exhaust, NA tuning Stage 2, Port Polish, Engine Balancing, Racing Chip(198HP), Weight Reduction Stage 1

Elise 111S
-HP and Weight Upgrades: Racing Exhaust, NA Tuning Stage 1, Racing Chip, Port Polish, Engine Balancing(204HP), Weight Reduction Stage 1-3

Elise 111R
-HP and Weight Upgrades: Racing Exhaust(202HP) or Computer Chip (200HP), Weight Reduction Stage 1-3

You must post a setup at the conclusion of the round and it better match the above!

Failure to provide your complete setup will result in your win given to the person you spent hours to beat.

Interesting to note that both the 'WDS Admin' and the 'WDS Tourney Admin' are both still in this... lol I swear we're not cheating :dopey:

Since there is only four people running this, anyone else can feel free to post tips/setups/or even run it if you want. But if you run it I will have to add you to the unofficial results, since I don't want to confuse anyone or tamper with the advancing structure.

You must post your time in this thread by the completion of this round, which ends exactly at midnight CST on September 20th.

I was wondering when we were gunna use these. To bad I'm at school right now and have work right after school til 9pm eastern time. *sigh* not much racing for me >_< BLEH!

The question was brought to me about the use of Nitrous. The rules that darkwind supplied don't really give a clear answer on it - because technically Nitrous does not affect the car's number for horsepower. Since they are all 4 cylinders and all take a 100 shot of the juice, I will say that it is allowed unless someone can prove to me that it gives one car an unfair advantage.

Ehh, maybe I shoulda specified. Anything that DOES NOT affect the HP or weight when you equip the part is allowed. >_< now if only I'd get some free time to test!

Little cars are fast for having so little HP.

EDIT: errr... ok stupid of me to ask this about a race i setup, but would ballast be allowed since technically it alters weight? If it's not, the above time is invalid.

I would say ballast is fine because it doesn't make any car unequal... all cars can use the same top amount of ballast - good question though.

Yep.

By the way an oil change is considered something that adjusts the hp, so don't do it to any of them.

Alright, I got home from school today and laid down a couple more runs to see if I could squeeze some more ticks of the clock...

My final entry will be at 10.117

It was a good challenge, win or lose....best of luck to you darkwind

The Lotus Elise(option #2) tuned to 198 HP...plus all the non-HP adding non-weight reducing accessories, such as tranny, etc...

I think the biggest reason this thing is quicker than the rest is that it starts off at such a low weight, and add in the Stage 1 reduction, and its below the 700kg...the only Elise in this challenge I think that is below 700kg

I know a sub 10 is possible...that will be tomorrow's last ditch effort...I really thought my 10.117 was safe...I guess nothing is safe!

I agree sub 10 is possible. It might require the full custom tranny and minor tuning, but its possible. And yes, my 10.039 was stock trannyed, just used shifting technique.

Haha, but I'd much rather have everyone pushing the limits of this competition...I really hope we can get someone (preferably me) to crack the 10 second barrier...its definitely doable!!!

Good luck on the last day of running....I won't be able to do anymore until this evening. To class (auditing and productions :yuck:

I would have figured it out once I got running anyway. Ballast = bad. Seriously, added 1 ballast to the back of the car and it ran .003 seconds slower :lol:

I'm off work at 8 pm eastern so expect a sub 10 or extremly close by 9! MWAHAHA....haha

For sure, I expected it to go faster with some ballast but since I'm not even needing TCS for my setup this little car shoots out like a rocket and with ballast it is more like a space shuttle with fat astronauts on board.

9's are possible but not by me, I'm at a wall.

By the way... springs, bound/rebound, and stabilizers seem to do nothing to the time my car runs. Nothing at all. Very strange.

I may have been knocked out last round but I still found time for this one. These cars seem to like my shifting technique.

10.049 seconds

Not bad for someone who rarely touches MT.

Same applies to me...its like you switch any of it, and it goes slower....

The important thing is that you tried. And if darkwind doesn't post a setup, you could still win.

I also gotta say... you REALLY improved from knowing absolutely nothing to giving the guy who came UP with the challenge a serious run for his money! 👍
