I made this plot of the overall times by region and it shows just how much harder it was to advance in the west. You had to be more than a second faster.

I also looked average time of the top 128 in each region to see what one was the fastest.

West 05:14.944
Northeast 05:15.537
Southeast 05:15.722
Midwest 05:15.970

So even with the NE dominating the top of the leader board. The West was on avarge way faster. I therefore declare them the winners of round 1.

I shall be the first to reach out and express gratitude on behalf of the entire forum. Most of us shirked from whipping out a calculator and getting the average of the times for the regions in the US. You have indeed done us all a great service for which I for one shall be forever grateful.

I see now that I was foolish when i deluded myself into thinking that this sort of study was entirely irrelveant and pointless and would only concern cretins, but again I am in your debt for correcting me.

I am, sir, your most humble and obediant servant.
 
i tried to post the plot too but it didn't take for some reason. i would try agin but it is on my work computer and i am out for the next 2 days.

The change in slopes almost immediately after rank 128 is pretty interesting, thanks for making this 👍

Looks like if you merged them into a national line it would correlate pretty well with the natural logarithmic function. Which is honestly exactly what I would expect from an "organic" sample.

to bad its not a combined time trial.they are looking for the fastest drivers in the us so far they are in the north east .nice try tho hope makes you feel better.

+1 and, of course, we also dont know the difference in numbers of how many people were playing in each region. I am led to believe there was far more man power in the West which:

A) translates into more fast drivers, ie. if you look at it as a percentage of, lets say, # of sub-5:17 times per total players in the region, the percentages would probably all look pretty similar.

B) because of the greater number of people competing for the same limited amount of spots, they were forced to push harder (unlike other regions where it was a little easier to clinch your way into Round 2 and walk away before you were even able to string together your sector bests on any/all three tracks).

But then again, I assume most of you guys have already thought about this as well :)

That's me... I didn't make the cut.

I blame it on to much suckege and not enough awesomeness. That.. and my absolute inability to lay down power after a hairpin. Throttle control with the Dual Shock is freekin hard. The throttle is not linear with the trigger position, it jumps right from half throttle to wide open.

Why didn’t I just go get myself a wheel you ask? Well… I didn’t realize I cared until it was to late.

That sucks :/ I really hope they do it again next year, personally. I'm hoping to make it to round 3 but I'm not sure it'll happen. A whole year on a sim I feel like I could really put in some great practice and be set for next year.
