So, I think we should have a game about whether you would buy this car or not. This could go buy a current Autotrader ad, or a past one. Or maybe something completely made up.

The rules of the game are-I will state the car in question, and list everything it comes with, whether its new or used, the milage, and any damage found on the car.

Then I will post another real or fake ad for another car that would fit a different category of person. I will then give you a category, say sporty track cars, and you pick as if you were looking for a sporty track car.

Post up your car you choose, and then post the reason you choose it. After the voting round ends, we will have a master thread displaying each winner the community choose.

The cars in question this week are a 2004 BMW 330I, or a 2008 Acura TL 3.2l.

Both used, non-smokers. You choose which car you want.

I choose the BMW! Why? Because I own that specific model described, and don't plan on ever giving it up. Apparently there are owners clubs for the Performance Package 330I too!

Just to start with, the TL isn't really Japanese. A small FYI. ;)

Secondly, this is a difficult decision; I've owned/own both these cars. In simple terms against a 3.2 TL, I'd have my 330Ci again, but probably in a coupe form. The 2 packages listed make such a better difference in how the car rides & handles. Was a fun little car with enough power to make it interesting.

Against a 3.5, though, & I'll keep my Acura any day (almost). Despite a constant consideration to sell it for something much faster, it still does a lot of things right & has remained so reliable to me. It's been a very "saving grace" kind of car to me & was the only car I ever purchased out of a lease; a part of me loves it that much.

Short answer.
3.2 vs 330Ci: 330Ci.

Yeah, the Acura isn't sold outside of the US (i don't think) so you are basically asking non-Americans to tick the box for the BMW or tick the other box if you really hate BMW's.

Just bought almost that exact BMW, and I considered Acura as an alternative (it was the TSX though).

Your price point is a bit high for the BMW, but it's still a better car. I'd definitely look for one for less money though. You should be paying more like $18-19k for the 330. To be fair, the price on the TL is probably high too, so it balances out.

The BMW because the TL isn't a 6spd and it's gold. Gold\tan should be removed from this planet as available paint choices.

Up, doh! :dunce: I had a brain fart.

Wasn't the Acura TL also sold as something else in Japan? Honda Accord in Europe and Japan! I'll edit the OP.

What enthusiast in their right mind would choose the Acura over the BMW?

BMW because RWD.

Nah, seriously, I just think the BMW would make for the better car. it'll probably retain more of its value, in case selling it again in a few years is an option, I think.

And, yeah, gold/tan? Hell no.

Nope. The Accord is the TSX variant.

The 3rd gen. TL was built & sold at first in the US. Then it was sold in the Chinese market. That's it.

BMW. 3 Series are awesome cars. Awesome car already plus the ZHP package? Hell yes.

The BMW is priced way too high though. You should be able to pick one of those up for 17k-18k...

For me it would all depend on the purpose of the car. For instance, for daily driving I'd take the Acura due to the fact that I hate the idea of having one calve muscle bigger than the other due to being stuck in traffic with a manual transmission car. I know some people would consider this being lazy, but it's not fun being stuck in traffic for a minimum of 2hrs/day, 5 days/week. However, as a weekend car and keeping performance in mind, I'd choose the BMW.

TL is only sold in America, TSX was rebranded as the Honda Accord Euro in other countries. Dad owns one of the latter. Great car to drive but...compared to an E90 3-Series? Ye- no.

Do you not read the posts before posting?

Fix'd.

Also for that reason I'd pick the BMW by default because I have no idea what the TL is like. If it was the TSX? I'd probably still pick the BMW.

...Yes, I do.

I'm not exactly seeing the problem you're trying to insinuate there is. I'm just adding a little extra info.

He's not replying to you. He's using both our posts as examples of crispy not reading what we said the first time around.

I don't care a whole lot about car performance when it comes to buying cars... I'd go with the TL because it's cheaper, it's automatic, and (i think) it's not as costly to maintain as a Bimmer.

Economic choice.

The BMW because the TL isn't a 6spd and it's gold. Gold\tan should be removed from this planet as available paint choices.

Those two reasons were enough for me to say BMW. They're really equally equipped and it comes down to color, FWD/RWD, auto/manual, and if you consider the badge to mean anything to you.

Poseurs.

I'd go with the Acura. A beige four door sedan is anonymous in traffic, and while I love the E46 3 series, BMWs out of the free maintenance period are prone to lots of visits to the dealer. Moreso the newer ones than the E46 but that's a problem I want to avoid.

I'll get my jollies at the track in my vintage 69 BMW 2002.
