The Stripes are pretty cool.
I like "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground"
"Seven Nation Army"
and when I'm up to it "Fell in Love with a Girl"
They're not that bad, but I do prefer other bands.

well, as everyone else is expressing how they feel...so i will too.

the white stripes suck!

rapper... none too much to say about it... I mean, him.

the stripes are real good. very, when you consider they are two and sound like four. they make very effective songs and are very tañlented... I dont like that much the new "garage wave" but I think they sound very good. I havent heard "Elephant" but, Ill get it...

Ahem, Unlike my last post... My musical tastes have matured... And I believe I am starting to like the white stripes. I love the song Blue Orchid. Really good stuff.

You should get White Blood Cells.Their best album IMO.The White Stripes are a divorced couple not bro and sis as they would like you to believe.

I actually prefer De Stijl, with Elephant as a close second. I like the real bluesy numbers on De Stijl, though my favorite Stripes song is Ball and Biscuit, hands down. That's how you can have a band with only two people in it.
;)
I have their new album and EP, but I haven't given them a thorough listen yet. And yes, GTR4 is correct; they were married but are now divorced.

That solo(solos) in ball and biscuit is simply amazing.Their new album may shock you if you're used to their normal sound(more acoustic guitar, marimba and piano instead of electric guitars and catchy drum beats) but after a few listens you'll love it.

The White Stripes used to be really cool i went to livid (rock festival in aus if you didn't know:)) because of them and they went off. They have never stated whether they are related or not although there are rumours of them being; brother and sister, married, divored but still friends, and two that I find quit odd, mother and son or father and daughter. the reason they dont tell anyone what the truth is, is because they want people to focus on the music and not them, which is understandible. their new album is quite a let down "get behind me satan" was hyped to be the best thing they've ever done but coming off an album like elephant is a hard act to follow to which in my opinion they just didn't beat. the thing that buggs me the most is that people keep saying that their like the ONLY bassless band in the world but the black keys and the yeah yeah yeahs have no bassist and still rock. all in all they were a great band until "get behind me satan" but that can be over looked by not playing the album!
Peace:)

I'm 99% sure they're brother and sister.

And to be honest, Jack White will scare the hell out of me any day before Marilyn Manson ever will.

Well, it's too late to reply to PS now, but Meg and Jack White are definitely not brother and sister. They were married for about 5 years in the mid-'90s (he took her last name).

@silverstone (<-- yes it's on purpose :p ) your a hippo

oh so they weren't brother and sister.

They were sorta ok, I liked their Music Vids a lot but I haven't heard of them in awhile and they got old to me.

I love Get Behind Me Satan – the album artwork is kinda creepy, but the music is utterly fantastic. It’s almost like what They Might Be Giants would come up with if they had to do a remake of a White Stripes album. :D It makes Elephant look absolutely plain and stodgy (and that’s a great album!).

The other day my Lit teacher had his stereo on low volume, playing his MP3 collection. He came over to my group, sat down, and started to ask me a question, when I suddenly got distracted to the sound of Little ghost, little ghost One I’m scared of the most, and I go, “Sorry, but White Stripes?”, and he just kinda grinned and nodded.

I think I have the Elephant?, it's the one with "Seven Nation Army". That was my favorite CD for while. "White Blood Cells" are really good. The cuts I heard from that CD sounded a lot like "Elephant" to me, but I thought it was even better. Their last album, I was kinda turned off by the title, so I didn't buy it. :dopey:

I think after reading this I will give "get behind me satan" another listen. the night I listened to it was the night I got it ... on my 18th. I was slightly intoxicated and dont really remember much so maybe now with a sober musical ear I'll give them the attention they deserve. Mind you, I always tell the truth when I'm ... ahem... drunk so maybe it does suck lol...
We'll see in the morning.
