I'd never heard of this, until I went searching for Electrical Sound Effects. Long story about needing a ring tone for an electrician in my contacts.

Anyways...

Apparently, the Wilhelm Scream is contributed to an actor in a 1951 movie. The actor was being shot with an arrow, and he emitted this scream. It has been reused in multiple films. All the Indiana Jones Films, the Star Wars movies, Video Games, Television and loads of others.

I never knew this.

How's that for useless triva information?

I'm actually a big fan of the Wilhelm, even used it in a short gag production a friend and I put together a while back.

These days, it's become a bit of a Hollywood in-joke, and I actually laugh when I hear it in theatres (which probably confuses people, because it's usually not used in funny moments).

Ahhh.. then I have misunderstood you. Is there an example somewhere of the scream you're thinking of?

I know which one you mean, Talentless - it's like, "eeeeeeyyeeaaaaaagggghhhhhhh!!!"" Really long and drawn out, right?
