Well I searched, and I haven't found a thread similar to this one.

So what's your view on the world in 2010, or the future of 10, 15 years?

Personally, I would think mostly everything would be electronically operated, and that the USA would no longer be the most powerful country in the world.... *runs and hides* A place like Japan would be, because they are so technologically advanced.

not much change. Fuel celled cars will be more numerous, we might have a few hovering cars, most of today's music stars will be old news, the face of Rock will have changed slightly, we should make it to Mars by then (or at least be planning to), the United States will be exhausted from its antiterrorism campaign, there will still be fighting in the Middle East, and plans might be underway for a new city in Iraq...

I think that seven years from now, I'll not be sitting at a computer. The computer will travel with me. I'll get me news and do most of my shopping on it. There will still be cashiers at the grocery store (too many problems with Automated tellers). Cars will remain much the same, with the exception of more "environment Friendly" features.

The internet will be much more mobile. My fear is that it will become extremely mobiel, but everyone will want to still be connected. Did you read that a few weeks ago, DVD movie's surpassed VHS in rentals? Last week, more laptops were sold than Desktops. The troubling underlying thought here, is that if I can connect to my office system anywhere it would have to uniquely identify me inorder for me to gain access. So someone could trace that back and find my location. This means that people could be tracked where ever, when ever.

Take a look at this thread "The Future is not Here." Tell me what you think.

The Mars expeidtion crew won't come for another 25 to 30 years. To many unknowns in the process.

More technological, yes. I don't think anything really revolutionary is going to happen, though. Nothing that's going to dramatically impact life as we know it now.

I don't think that much would happen. I agree with the environmentally friendly cars but don't think Japan will be the leading superpower just because they're "technologically advanced". I'm not one of these people who are screaming America is the Best!! and crap like that, but I don't see that much happening (such as major power changes) in seven very short years. Major things like America falling out of the lead doesn't happen in 7 years (That's just what I think, don't jump down my throat). I can't really think of a country that is big enough, strong enough, or organized enough to attack America and knock us totally out of power. I just can't see that much stuff happening in 7 yrs.

As for technological advances I see a lot of stuff happening. I think there will be more laptops than desktops and you'll be able buy a 5-6 megapixel digital camera for like $400.I also think that very few if any VHS tapes will be made and you'll be able to buy a cheap DVD player at wal-mart for about $50. The PS3 will be out and you'll be buying games that cost about 50-60 bucks now used for about 15-20 bucks

We'll be wearing our computers on our heads....

We'll be able to grow back amputated limbs...

Paper/Coin cash wil be virually non-existent...

Pot will be somewhat de-criminalized in USA (similar to recent Canadian law)

Homosexual marraige will be legal in USA...

Dsic Golf will be a televised sport...

The Lions' will have won their first super bowl...

The Pound will have been replaced by the Euro...

Doug will still be a prick...

I think there will be an evil dictator running everything. There will be telescreens everywhere watching what you do. You will either be a party member or a member of the disenfranchised proletariat. Dissent will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. History will be rewritten to justify the oppressive state, and we will be in a state of perpetual war against an ambiguous, possibly fictional enemy to maintain loyalty to the party. Yes, 1984 will be . . . wait. Never mind.

Whoa.... Everyone, keep posting, this is opening new doors to technology as we speak!

I just have the fear that our ozone layer will eventually have a large enough hole that we need to either
a) Adapt to the harmful rays from the sun
or
b) Change our environment ONCE AGAIN so that it is suitable for humans to exist. We would have to wear some sort of suit whenever we go outside, because the rays would be so strong.

THAt's my view.. *and my first post..heh*

Eric will be forty, whereas I'll be 26 -- kicking ass and taking names in some racecar!

If that doesn't work out I'll just buy an oil refinery in Tx. or help Doug with his karting track in Florida.

No hovering cars. You can't have them along with more normal cars, and you can't force people to give up thier normal road cars for something that hovers and if the hovering car has a failure there will be injuries or death.

There will be advancements. Ofcourse there will be. Prices for technology now(like LCD TVs) will drop as newer things come out. Bye bye VHS, it will go to DVD and DVD recorders will replace VCRs.

Other than that, who knows? Better yet, who cares? Whatever happens is gonna happen anyway.

Ohh and in 10 years or less, expect to see some awsome Mazdas coming out since I will be working for them probably in the design or engineering area. :)

I don't really care as long as I am still alive and kickin'. One thing I would like though, is to be able to live in a giant biodome type thing suspended in the air. BUt that won't happen for atleast another 60-70 years probably.

[EDIT] And Hover Rounds will actually hover[/EDIT]

Teehee. In 7 years I will be 7 years older. :)

Also, Microsoft will begin making houses and realistate. Then Windows Blinds will be there to skin those houses. :)

The way Microsoft is going, it won't be around in 2010.

Oh god no. I mean, seriously, can you imagine a Microsoft house? The stinkin' thing would blow up every Thursday... And it'd be ugly as sin.

Imagine coming home from a long day at work and when you try to unlock your MS doors the system freezes. Then you get stuck on hold outside for an hour while waiting for technical support, in the winter.

I think that the whole house will be wired together into a cohesive system that allows for a more efficient and more complete environmental management.

Computers will be smaller and more powerful, but we'll still use them in the same way. Someone will finally have solved the convergence of PDAs and cell phones. Some person may actually be able to justify having a 3G phone.

Doug will still be teasing and terrifying teenagers on internet forums. But by then he will have 4,862 cars, all of which have at least 250bhp.

My Fantasy F1 game will be more popular than F1 itself, but still no-one will chat in the forums. There will be only 1,000 posts.

People still won't understand Klostrophobic's humour.

vat_man will be the number one runner in the 2010 Sydney marathon, while at the same time wondering how the hell he ever got to become a moderator.

;)

While most people are covering the technological bases, I will have to note one thing-- I'd imagine that housing would only get worse, in that they'll stick as many houses as they can on an acre so that your backyard is a two-foot strip of grass. Bah... :(

I predict that the sun will eventually stop producing light. But when It does that, it will explode creating a warp in time, then space it'self will reform and explode.

It will happen.:odd:

I think that Camaros will be put back on the market again by 2010 :D :D :D

Actually, the hole in the ozone layer has been slowly repairing itself, but most of the damage has already been done...

Uhh, I'll be also kicking arse, and taking names in a university somewhere near Mooloolaba...;)
