I don't think we'll see huge technological advances in 7 years. I don't think there will be flying cars, tons of elecrtic cars, nor the invention of hyperspatial jumps.

We'll likely see technological improvements based on what we have now: PDAs will be more prevalent, high-speed internet will be available in more areas, the 20-GHz processor will be the industry standard (though it may be out-dated by 2010). I think computers will just get smaller and more available. It's hard to say how medical technology will advance; but suffice to say there will likely be cures for ailments we didn't know how to solve efficiently in 2003. That said, there will also be newly discovered problems and diseases we didn't understand earlier.

It's also a fair bet to say inflation will still exist, and economists will battle over whether the economy is great or poor. People will complain about taxation. There will still be poor, needy, sick, and homeless. There will still be joy and suffering. Corporations will be both a boon and a bane to our existance in a capitalist society. In these respects, little nor nothing will change.

Personal matters are what changes the most. We change jobs, friends, acquanitences, cars, homes, clothing, trends, and our communication. These are the things we notice most about life in the past compared to the future.

Many of us remember what life was like in 1996 (7 years ago); the big picture hasn't changed all that much. The internet changed to The Internet! and it's almost hard to imagine a life without it. Information is so much easier to attain now. A few laws have changed, 9/11 happened, and security matters have changed a little. But not terribly much. We've evolved ourselves to deal with the nature of change, some ways for good, in some ways negative. There will also be unexpected things that nobody can predict nor prepare for. That's what's so amazing about life, it has no script nor time for a rehearsal.
