Yesterday at school I almost got smashed-into by a car while crossing the street, and, today, I rolled my ankle while walking back from lunch. Fantastic.

I think someone's out to get me. Last year, I sprained my ankle (some of you may recall) in math class. It was a sprain of epic proportions, but this one isn't so bad. The problem now is this: I'm kind of scared for my ligaments. I hope they aren't so badly hyperextended. I'm also wondering if legal action can be taken. Can negligence toward making the ground even where the scrambled-together picnic area my school created be punishable? There was a bottle-neck of people in my way as I was walking to class, so I got stuck between a garbage can and a picnic-table. So, I went to step over the bench of the picnic table in order to keep from being squished, and that's when I landed on my ankle on a piece of grass or sod that was not put in properly. I fell to the floor immediately, and it's a good thing I did, because I'm guessing my ankle would've snapped. Stuff like this pisses me off, though. I always have to have SOME form of bad luck.

as preposterous as this may sound, your size 15 feet are no match for your 300+ lbs. weight. At least for jumping around or doing whatever intense activity as your walking home from school may be.

Stop eating!

I'm not all that fat, and I'm at about 278 now. Used to be 300. Still, I know it's a load. Also, I wasn't walking home from school, I was trying to get to class.

I tore the ligaments in my ankle playing tennis when I was 15, yes tennis. It was a high ball so I jumped to hit it, landed off balance and my foot slipped and my whole weight went onto the ankle and it tore the ligaments badly, I'm 24 now and I still feel it sometimes, especially in the winter when it's colder.

When I play football I regularly finish the game with my left ankle a little bit swolen. Charlotte thinks I should have had it looked at again ages ago but I didn't. It doesn't stop me playing football, it just leaves me in discomfort and it tends to not cope with weight nearly as well as my right ankle.

My point is, be careful, I did mine nine years ago and it's still not right, probably never will be. It's only a bit of discomfort now and then, but I have to live with it.

Btw, you're 100lbs heavier than me. And I'm quite broad shouldered, though I did lose 14lbs this earlier this year in Feb with illness which I haven't put back on.

I feel your pain... kind of. I'm at around 230-250 lbs. and have just taken up tennis. My ankles are alright, but my knees are killing me.

Ominis, you'd fit in with my family just perfect, my sis got her heel run over, my mom fell on the stairs and broke her elbow, both of them fall and/or hurt themselves on a daily basis, and now we have a bigger house to get blood all ove......i mean to love and cherish, plus my dad has numb toes, im the only one who's never breaks a bone (except for my finger once), i've had 3 concussions in 2 months. that's what i can remember right now, hope your ankle and your luck, get better.

While swimming...

Snap! (Not literally..) Just not yesterday...

Omnis: That sucks dude, perhaps you can get one of those ankle supports that is used in various sports. Keep it strapped in for a while and let it heal good.

well if your 275 lbs and like 6'5 its not bad.... how tall u anyways

6'3 or 4, give or take. I'm gonna go try and see a radiologist/sports medicine doc that doesn't suck.

Thats happened to me a few times but its only sore for about a minute and then its fine again. Im lucky enough to have never had a serious injury in my life. I actually remember falling down the stairs once when I was 3. It didnt hurt me though, wierdly enough. Those sponsors down there \/ now have ads for ankle treatment things now!!

Post pics.

Bad one is on the right.

This is the first sprain:

As you can tell, the swelling isn't nearly as bad, but it's still there.

And, GJB, I hit the ground hard. It didn't hurt a bit, though. I think I'm good at falling. (meaning, I fall well, not often.)

What the hell's going on?

Two days ago our friend that's come over from Australia sprained his ankle walking home from the pub with Dad (and in the very dark night, too...). He fell pretty hard, ripping his jeans in the progress. It has now swollen up quite badly and limps when he walks. We all returned to the pub the next day to have a meal and found one of the women that work at the bar had a limp too, which was done by her walking into some furniture (don't ask how...). Then later on another man walked in with another limp! By then we were in fits...

Dad and him have just gone back to the pub again this evening. I really hope no more accidents are made. :nervous:

I think the god of ankles is ****ing pissed about us questioning planets again.

Bee
So will be yours when you finally hit puberty. ;)

Owned. I just went to the kitchen with my crutches and made some fries, and now my ankle is killing me again. I guess my quick action to get to student services straight away and ice it and call for a ride home was a good decision. I don't know how I would've been able to make it through the rest of the day, let alone survive the bus ride and walk home.

HAHAHA Bee > MachOne.

MachOne, I believe you just got pwnd.

I got hairy toes too, who cares?

That sprain sucks. It reminds me of my knees and ankles a year ago. When I used to bike everyday, I'd try a new thing each week almost and I'd get hurt, come home, play it off, go back the next day. One day I tried 540 spin onto the quarter pipe, and I tried spinning it off back into the quarter pipe. I went down, my wrist hit the lip of the quarter pipe, my ankle and knees came slam down. I got water into my knee and they took like 2 1/2 tubes of that icky yellow stuff out and they're fine now. And my ankle got twice as swollen as yours. Sucked. Stopped biking for a month after that and went back to doing the same. I landed the trick second day I went back to riding :D

Finally?

I suppose it's more suiting to talk about it in the past tense ;).

I've seen hairy toes, but those toes have their own little moustaches .

Ok smart-ass  1-1..

And yes they do infact look like they have moustaches, kinda puts mine to shame, Omnis can we swap toes?

(Thinks about making a 'Toes For Sale' thread in the Trading Post... Nah)

Back on topic, on inspecting those pics Omnis, I can safely say I cringed. Hope you recover well dude.
👍

Just ice it until it's numb. They say not to put ice directly on it, since it can cause cold-burns, but it actually helps (as long as you don't leave it on for TOO long).

Go see a physiotherapist. They'll probably suggest them you loose weight but that's what they all say if your even slightily overweight and injure your leg.

@Diego- There's only one thing worse than Tennis you could do to loose weight, and that's road running, serious. Hard ground sports are not a good idea when you want to loose weight. Hard ground sports aren't a good idea for anyone really IMO because they will take their toll on your knees.

Aw, hope you all get better, and stop hurting yourselves.

But last week, I was sleeping on the couch and now I cant move my neck much due to severe pain. Its been like that for a week, in the past that always went away. :nervous::scared:.

I've played a lot of basketball since 7th grade. Freshman year in high school, I sprained my ankle. It was unbelievably painful. Over next 5 years or so, I was rolling and spraining both my ankles, all the time. I had to get ankle braces that did help little bit too. But after while, I stopped rolling them. And when I did roll them, nothing happened. If there was any pain at all, it would go away within minutes.

I have no idea what happened to my ankles. Is it possible that, they sprained so much that it changed the form of something inside my ankles? I'm not sure what I did to them, but I am happy with the results. :D

Ouch. I'm having a really bad day. First, my neck, and now I was cutting a passion fruit to eat and one part was all dry and brown and hard, and my knife slipped off the hard part and skinned half my thumb. At least it's not too deep, but still hurts to hell.:ouch:

Not to mention my 98 other problems.

I got 99 problems but a [word replaced with 'girl'] aint one.

You can play tennis on grass courts as well, though that's not what I played on. I don't play tennis anymore but I play badminton, table tennis and football. I'd like to play squash but I never have.

Squash is great... I just wish they'd make it with padded walls (like insane asylums), since you tend to jump against them a lot.

I used to play tennis a lot when I was younger. I played until I was 18, and was even ranked in my country. But at 18, I started driving all the time, stopped riding my bike, and by the time I was also smoking too much, so I just couldn't keep up with other players. Shame on me.

There aren't any grass courts here... there's barely grass for that matter. Lots of concrete, though. I'm coupling the tennis with shutting my mouth a bit, since the food here is getting so Americanised lately that everything you eat is "light" but still has about 8x the calories of a normal meal.

Well theoretically any sport can have a toll on your knee(s); I've recently had my second knee reconstruction in two years through skiing and a nasty tackle during a 1st soccer match. Infact, I believe they were both on the same day of the month (July 2nd)!

But just apply RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation) and you should be fine, providing it's not a major ruptuure of a/some ligament(s) or bone(s).
