I have been looking at Derek Speare's steering wheel adaptor for T500RS which is coming in at about £26 sterling at the moment, coupled with an inexpensive dished full size diameter rim...I think it is a cheap project and not a too difficult DIY job by the looks of things. I do have a question though and wondered what your thoughts were...

As I would be using this on a PS3 (GT6) and PS4 (Project Cars soon) would the lack of control buttons be a problem in daily use? How would menu navigation work? I can understand this mod being done for PC users/simmers but PlayStation? Has any one done this? Is it liveable with day to day or a PITA?

I don't like the size of the rim on T500RS - wanted something a bit more realistic, but I can do without it, it was just a thought. May well be a non starter if the button issue can't be overcome. Any one done it?

Thanks in advance.

Do it, it REALLY changes the whole feel of the T500RS. HOWEVER, I cant say for sure how well it will work on PCars, although since GT lets you a gamepad and a wheel at the same time it really wasn't that big of an issue.

IF you want to either throw some money or time/expertise at the problem, there are several ways to have a FUNCTIONAL T500 Mod rim too, take a look.

Here you go Sam's wheel/wheel plates are quite expensive which will retain full PS3 functionality. Not sure about PS4 though.

Sam Maxwell Custom wheels & Wheel plate - Custom wheel/plates with full PS/PC support.

There is also a different mod adapter which takes the plastic button section from the GTE rim, adds an adapter which can fit after market rims. This has the advantage that you keep button functionality, although of course the GTE rim's shifters will be too small for a very large rim.

I saw various posts about this new mod adapter last month, but can't find a link right now... Anyone else?
