Thinking about upgrading to a ps5 digital.

Hi all I would love to know your. Experience when you've upgraded from a PS4 to a ps5 playing Gt7.

I'm just not sure I should buy one for the reasons.i want to buy one.

I've now spent quite a lot of money on 5 different wheels and all three the force feed back has been stiffer and more responsive on F1 and GT sport but less on gt7, I'm wondering if it's something to do with me having a ps4, I know that older consoles getting hot can effect performance but I have two PS4 and there both performing well and don't seem to be getting to hot.

Some examples of my issues are For instance when I'm playing Gt sport not gt7 on my PS4 and I feel a slide most of the time like 8 out of ten I'll turn the wheel the other way and I save it.

However on gt7 most of the time I can't correct it and the force feed back just seem so much weaker it's almost like it's slightly delayed response time from GT sport to gt7 what I've also noticed is the response time of instant force feed back seems quicker on older firmware to on the ps4.

wheels I've had so far is G29 t150 t300rs g293 and now I've got the tgt2 and I'm experiencing the same issue on all wheels the force feedback being so much stiffer and better on F1 but no comparison on gt7 but more acceptable on GT sport , which has got me mythed especially since thrustmaster states the tgt2 is officially licensed for the gt7, but states it's officially licensed for ps5 but compatible with the PS4 ? Whatever that means ?

Is there any difference in force feedback performance in terms of responsiveness on the ps5 I know some reporters have reported the force feed back being stiffer on the ps5 compared to the the PS4 when playing gt7 (but how true is that ( ?when using the tgt2,

but really I would like to hear from trusted members concerning this, as the internet can say anything.

But also I wonder if with the ps5 being quicker and having better hardware than the PS4 that it would improve response time of indication of slides when racing ?.

Or can response time of force feed back be down to the actual hardware of the wheel ?
Thanks for reading and taking part and please give other good things you found where better after upgrading.

I'm thinking a ps5 digital could be better and quicker than a disc edition to ?

There shouldnt be a difference in the FFB feeling, the game engine is the same and humans dont need 1ms precision haptic feedbacks for any extra power to make a difference.
Though, without a PS4 I cant compare.

No, they are the same piece of hardware and the disc is simply an addon that spools up when it is connected and a disc inserted.
The only difference between a console bought digital and a console bought disc is the initial pricetag and that you dont need to be worried about breaking anything when putting in the disc drive yourself.

hi thanks I was looking at the ps5 slim digital edition, I've been looking to see if it has the exact same hardware as a fat disc edition but can't find nothing, only reason is I've found in the past slim models to be more reliable in longevity for heating issues I'm wondering are slim models generally made and sold after the fatter editions are made ? Or is it because when there made, slims have more effort put into them when
making them, to ensure they run cooler, because there slim ?

This i think might matter as many user across the net report all sorts of issues when things get hot and not just on Gt7.

But with the digital edition console the game is played from the SSD drive But in the a disc edition it's played from a disc, would one data transfer be possibly faster than the other ?.

I know on a disc edition I believe you can still play ganes from the SSD drive but it's got me puzzled as to why you would still need to insert the disc to play the game

That is a misunderstanding:
It doesnt matter if you have a disc edition or a digital edition -> the game will always be played from the SSD it is installed on, there is no data on the disc that will be used for the game.
Having a disc drive as the installation medium instead of purchasing a game on the PSN-online store only changes the fact that it will check for the disc when you start the game, and then it will return silent.

Yep I thought as much to, I was leaning that way l, I just wonder if we have any members here which can compare force feedback between the the slim digital edition and the disc fat edition after long term play or even just after a few laps
It ms just when I'm really fully connecting with the force feed back my lap times are so much better and the whole experience is so much more enjoyable.

It sounds like by opting for the digital PS5 the OP will miss out on a cheap upgrade to the PS5 version of GT5 as this requires him to insert his disc to validate it?

I believe you can upgrade the disc edition to a digital edition cheap enough , I'm not to concerned about that.

Oh Amazon many reviews state the slim digital edition fan does not run no where near as loud as the disc edition.

Is that because the slim digital edition doesn't get as hot as the disc edition, I woul assume temps only need to raise so much to effect ffb

You know, I'm thinking of getting a digital ps5, I've heard and seen on Best Buy and other websites that it's cheaper than the disc version. What benefits do you guys get out it for whoever owns one? I need to price them the next 5 months. Hopefully there will be huge sales for Christmas or Labor Day this year. I gotta get my hands on one soon.

You can, but you still need the disc because that's your original game licence...
If only he'd read my link.
granturismo.com
You will be eligible to purchase the PS5 Upgrade of the digital version of Gran Turismo 7 for 10 USD.
If you own the PS4 disc version of the software, you will need to insert the disc into the PS5 when downloading or playing this upgraded digital version. Please note that if you own the PS4 disc version but purchased the full PS5 Digital Edition which does not require a disc, you will not be eligible to purchase the PS5 Upgrade for 10 USD.
The PS5 Upgrade for this software requires an account for PlayStation™Network.
Just another additional expense to consider when making the upgrade.

I would wonder how many of those reviewers have had 2 consoles to compare each other.

I dont hear any difference, maybe they should consider cleaning the vents, or not putting the console in a place that provokes heated air trapping itself.

I don't know but one member mentioned he had both,

On the ps5 could you check something for me, in the options in gt7 to go into the wheel and pedal calibration is both the thrustmaster tgt and tgt 2 listed ? Or is it just tgt ?

I cant tell you anything about the wheels, controller player.
Also: havent played for a long while, not motivated to start GT7.

I Have and use both a digital and disc SLIM PS5's. There are NO difference in how they operate apart from using a disc to START a game on the disc version. Everything else is the same. Loading times, fan speed, console temperature, all the same. I Only have a T-300 wheel and it works exactly the same on both consoles. The force feedback on the T-300 is also the same on the PS5's compared to my PS4 PRO.

Thank you for telling us this information. I'll write the info down or type it in an e-mail.

I had a PS4 and PS5 running GT7 and never noticed a difference in FFB.

There are lots of good reasons to upgrade though, the loading times alone makes it feel like a different game!

I have a disc and digital PS5 and they both run at the same volume (which is very quiet, again a massive upgrade over the PS4). But if the disc is spinning it is often quite audible.

Maybe post in the Sim Racing Hardware section and ask some fast GT7 drivers to give you their TGT2 settings?

If the OP has disc versions of PS4 games he wants to continue to play I would suggest the disc version unless he plans on keeping his PS4.

Ok, well I'll have to get it wherever they have the cheapest price available. Thanks.

Sony just did there yearly days of play in which they had the digital PS5 with Astro Bot for $399 and unless you buy it second hand your not gonna find a cheaper price on a new PS5 than that.

I'll probably have to try to find one at my nearest local Walmart. We have one 5 minutes down the road. Damn, I messed up. I shouldn't have sold my ps5. It's too late for that now.

🤣 (It would not have been funny if I had written this...)
Ah, well I meant getting advice from other TGT2 GT7 drivers. Speed may or may not be important...

I used a T300 on PS4 and PS5 and didn't notice a difference, but only TGT2 owners are going to know about that wheel and what settings they prefer.

The difference in volume may not be between digital and disc, but slim and non-slim (if there is one).

I'd take the PS5 pro digital if I was in OP's shoes.
The ps5 slim would be the better choice for me since it's lighter in weight. See I only weigh 120 pounds. And I'm a little over 5 feet tall.

The PS5 pro is lighter than the ps5 slim.

Slim is 7.1 lbs
Pro is 6.8 lbs

But of course the pro is more expensive. 👍

Well I'll see what I can do, I started saving up a couple weeks ago thankfully. But I still have a good ways to go if I even think about getting the ps5 Pro.
