A day ago, one had to really search for messages that weren't about trading X1's & co.
Today, all is about not being able to trade / dupe / cheat.

And it almost seems that's all there is to talk about nowadays.

Can't you guys just go to another website to complain and leave this,
originally wonderful, forum for GT5 enthousiasts who love the game and want to discuss cars,
driving, photography and maxing out car and track performance?
Would appreciate it 👍

I would also like to state this: When PD changed the penalty system for corner cutting, which of course is cheating,
just about everybody agreed that is was the right thing to do. Now more measures are being taken to prevent cheating (1.07) and it's all over the place.
Isn't that a bit hypocrite?

GTPlanet is a discussion forum and that, in my mind, is exactly what it is for - discussions. As long as the discussion relates to GT5 - and even duping/cheating/trading (whatever you choose to call it) - is GT5 related.

Well first off, you're about to get flamed a bunch for "complaining about complainers"

Secondly, this patch just blocks trading expensive cars. People could legitimately trade expensive cars. It didn't just hurt dupers/cheaters.

More penalties only hurts people who cut corners, and helps those who don't. Putting a trade restriction like this hurts dupers, and people who may want to trade expensive cars. Who does it help? And by help I don't mean "I feel better because people aren't cheating", I mean how has the game been objectively improved by this restriction?

Flaming is part of the forum game, shouldn't hurt too much ;)

Secondly, maybe it wasn't obvious but I only wanted to point out that
all there is to talk about is about the new patch. In a day we could have hundreds of threads about people disliking the patch and hating PD.
What's the point? What's there to discuss? As long as PD doesn't talk back,
we can say all we want but it won't help. But hey, there's freedom of speech
here and if there is nothing else to talk about than the damn trading, please do!

I only think it's a waste of time and space.

I do believe a lot of people (including moderators) agree with the idea.

Talk about cars, setup, races, tracks, ....
All the rest should be a minority of the discussions.

Well, it's a discussion forum, so people are discussing (read: flaming) the patch with each other. It'll be like this for a few more days until the patch craze dies down. Until then I suggest you cruise other places on the net. 👍

Though I agree, after 1 or 2 threads on the topic nothing new will be said and I find it unlikely that anyone will be swayed one way or the other. And as you said, unless PD reads and cares, it doesn't really matter anyway.

You don't get it. This forum is only for PD worshipping. Dissent is not tolerated. Thou shalt play like the true orthodox zealots do. Like it has been done for many generations.
Deviation from the true GT ways shall be punished and the offenders shall be banned.

True karma can only be gained by endless laps of Indy. Enlightenment will be achieved after 5 sessions of 24H Nurburgring. Only then will you be worthy of using the sacred cars that PD only intended for the pure souls.

...

You people make me sick.

Where do these forum natzis keep coming from?

@Brambos : you made my day :-)

@Brambos...I don't care what anybody says...that's funny right there...and true.

Personally, I don't care one way or another about the whole dupe/trade/gift whatever the heck it's called, because I don't do it. However, it's YOUR game, and if you wanna do it, that's cool...how does it hurt me? I play how I see fit, you should too. What bothers me more than anything is having to grind endlessly to be able to afford cars. Seriously, it's almost like going to work. My Son is 3 years old, and he loves this game, because he loves cars. He can't understand why I have to grind the same track over and over so I can buy him that cool purple Jag that he loves so bad. He only knows that he wants that car because it looks cool to him, and purple is his favorite color.

There's a lot of good in this game, but a lot of things that are totaly screwed up. I'm sure a lot of us would agree that we could do without a few of the things we want...such as more tracks...DLC...etc...just to get higher payouts, and more race content. We use games for entertainment. Explain to me how grinding is entertaining?

I don't get how duping is cheating? I really really don't see it ... Cheating is something that gains you an advantage over another player, which consists of things like corner cutting or ramming someone off / pushing them off of the track ... Duping does not give you an advantage over other players, therefore it can't be considered cheating. Sure you can say that the other guy has an advantage because if the guy hadn't of duped, the guy wouldn't have had a quicker car than me, but with the current PP system, there are so many cars that can enter so many different races so there is no real advantage to be gained there, online all it really adds is more variety, which to me isn't cheating. So what if a guy has a faster car than me anyway, lets go and beat him / push him into a mistake!

Agreed. Some people think it's cheating because people, as we've all heard countless times, are "cheating themselves." Whatever that means. Lookit, I got this game to enjoy it, not to go online and play against a bunch of people who purposly crash you so they can win a race...that is cheating, because they are gaining an unfair advantage against you. A dude having a crapload of X2010's or FGT's doesn't hurt me in the least. I don't see it as an unfair advantage. I got my stuff by doing the races...or the license tests...or special events...whatever. But to have the mentality, as some do, that if you didn't "earn" them, it's cheating. I have never duped, or even traded anything for that matter, but that doesn't make me better than someone that did. We all have our reasons for playing the game the way we see fit, and that's totally groovy with me.

You have just been added to my favourites list for people on this forum. Why? Because you talk sense and I like that! Thank you for posting!

leave this,

That's exactly the case now. Enthusiasts don't sit back and watch something they like get torn to pieces, so if something like 1.07 were to happen, I'd expect discontent among enthusiasts who like GT5.

Cheating is cheating. Duping isn't. So there's the problem.

Sure you can say that the other guy has an advantage because if the guy hadn't of duped, the guy wouldn't have had a quicker car than me

They still can't complain. They chose to play A-Spec a certain way, so they have to deal with the consequences: they can only race online where their cars are competitive. If the "honest" player only has one car, he has no right to complain about being lapped by some guy in a X1. He should deal with what he imposed on himself and go race somewhere where his car is competitive.

You took me slightly out of context but thats ok :)
