So the Movie 'This is England' is awesome, and now a TV series has followed it up...

You can watch the first 3 episodes of the TV series (Watch after the movie!) on Youtube.

The 4th and final episode airs on Tuesday on Channel 4...

Anybody watch it? Certainly worth picking the movie up for £3 at your local Asda/Tesco and then watching the TV series. Its really good.

I hope these 4 episodes were sort of 'pilots' to see how it goes, and they will make more, because it really is the best thing on TV in years imo.

I sat down to watch the film last night then realised my brother had taken it back already :ouch: I'll have to borrow it again but good to know the series is on YouTube so I haven't missed it.

i thought we were talking about that infamous World Cup team which became famous for allowing the Shoryuken-goal from Maradona

It does appear in the series towards the end.

Anyway, I thought that the series wasn't a patch on the film, although this was mostly due to how culturally stable the setting has become. What made the film really great was seeing how the characters dealt with the rising popularity of the far right amongst their subculture, and how Shaun was being coerced into it without really knowing what it all meant. The series to me felt more like Skins set in the 80's (minus the ridiculous plot) instead of a gritty account of socio-economic hardships like the film was. It's still an enjoyable watch, but it feels a bit too "alternate universe" to me - the ending of the film literally hangs over the start of the series yet we hardly see any mention of it - many loose ends are left untied. Lol looks fantastic with that androgynous look though!
