The Car
This car is an MNR Vortx, one of literally eleventy-billion Lotus 7 clones that can be bought. It's powered by a Kawasaki ZX14 engine, 1400cc of angriness yanked out of a Ninja superbike. Good for just shy of 180bhp at the wheels at just shy of 10,000rpm, in a car that weighs less than 450Kg. The chap driving is Paul Lawrence, and you can read more about his exploits at The Ninja Bogey blog.
The Hill
Doune is an attractive village just north of Stirling. Its one of those places you drive through on the way to Scotlands stunning scenery, but to pass it by is to do it an injustice. Its a lovely place, with antiques shops, tea rooms and free parking. But every year in June the place reverberates to the sound of hundreds of horsepower tearing up a narrow strip of tarmac. It's full of deceptive turns approached at scarcely believable speed. Many racers regard it as the test of skill and commitment.
The Run
This was good enough for the class win on the day. Look at the data trace (which is under-reading the speed by a few per cent). Then look at the video again.
