I was wondering have you ever experienced a driving game - console or PC, using a good steering wheel and feeling like WOW I am driving a CAR?

The first time I ever felt I was driving a car it was when I first tried Toca One -
that was some time in late 90s and after the impossible "physics" of Need for Speed (One) where it was almost impossible to drive slowly on a straight road without crashing into a wall, Toca felt like a sim of driving a real car.

Then I was really impressed by LFS. With my Momo wheel the slow basic car felt like I was really behind a real car's steering wheel.

I won't include GPL, as we hardly have an idea what it is like to drive them, but with all Papyrus sims I have one problem - all the cars feel so awfully light, nothing like GT4 where I really feel as if I was driving a car, not a paper kite flying around in the air, which is my impression with PC Papyrus sims.

SO yeah, when I tried some of the slow GT4 cars, they felt really really much like driving a real car.

And what are the greatest sims where you really didn't feel like driving a car at all? RBR has excellent reviews and detailed physics, but I can't help it - I still believe even a WRC car is still A CAR, and the experience, even when I try to drive slowly is so far from driving a real car!

Toca Race Driver 3 - criticised for its physics, I would not mind if it was just simplified. BUt no matter how hard I try to set up the steering, the car responses to my steering inputs with delay and has some kind of "drunk" steering behavior.

Never tried Enthusia, but I suppose when looking for the ultimate driving sim, no matter how fast the cars are, we should ask ourselves - does this FEEL like driving a real car at all?

Your experience?

Live for Speed was the first game that I found to be really convincing. In fact, if it wasn't for Live for Speed, I would probably still think that the Gran Turismo series is as close to realism as it gets.

Enthusia was the second game, and is the only other one.

I second that on both points 👍

There's just something about the turn in in LFS that does it for me. Formula XR on South City long reverse. I don't know why this particular combo feels so good, it just does.
