I noticed that when I am stopped on the Corkscrew (Laguna Seca) pointing up the hill, and I let the car roll backwards a little, and slam on the brakes, the car will roll still (albeit slightly but very noticable). It's been bothering me for quite some time. Has anyone else noticed this?

You mean that the car will not stop completely but will instead somehow slide down-hill?

I have to try this and take a look at what the wheels are doing using the external view.

No I havn't noticed this. What car are you using? It may have something to do with the brakes.Or you have found a new glitch.

I'm sure the same thing might happen in real life.

What's the problem anyway? It's not like you have to do that very often anyway...

a common problem in videogames...

Yes, it has to do with how the grip is simulated. I worked on that I know how difficult it is.

Well, I have no problem with it; it's just that it appeared odd because the car is supposed to stop when you hit the brakes, not just roll slightly down the hill and keep going. The wheels aren't locked up at all, but will only stop rolling if I hit the gas and slam the brakes immediately after.

May be you need to check your car's break pads, is your car still in guarantee period? :sly:

Like Henny Youngman said: "Don't do that."

Is it just your brakes? What happens when you apply the hand brake? :odd:

I noticed this the first day I played GT4. I think this might be an error with the anti lock brakes. Just think about it, the wheels can never completely stop, so the car keeps rolling.

I'm talking about in general. Cars will stop in GT4 99.999999% of the time, but it's only on steep hills like on Laguna Seca that when I let the car roll just a few miles per hour and hit the brakes immediately after, the car will still roll slightly and keep doing so. It's minor, I admit, but I'm just wondering if it's a glitch in the game or something PD put in on purpose (which I highly doubt). Try it, it's hard to explain.

its a glitch that exists in almost every game, try it out in different games, you will notice that it happens in almost all. its actually worse in the games with a more realistic approach.

I noticed in GT4, that when the car is stopped, the gound nearby kinda 'wobbles' a bit. Does it in Burnout 3 too. Probably an aliasing problem.

I Believe Sega GT 2002 does this even when your on a flat surface.

Lol! Thats wonderful Sega GT for you. I swear, that was the worst £2.50 I have spent on eBay, ever. (Dreamcast version.)

Does it happen in Sega GT 2005? (ie. Forza Motorsport?)

Yeah - ive noticed this before in other games - Indy 500 (or something like involving Indy cars) on the PC used to have the same 'problem' It was only a problem in that game when you tried to cause humongeous pileups.

Sega GT for the XBOX was actually good and since at the time there were no games like the GT series on the XBOX, it was a welcome addition. Forza Motorsport has some problems and it's not convinced me to buy it or sway me from the GT corner but it's still a very good game. Oh and the Sega Gt 2005 sarcastic comment is stupid as MGS is responsible for Forza Motorsport and not Sega.

I got the joke straight away, good joke!:)

btw this problem has been in GT games forever if I remember right... It was something I do find annoying from a simulation perspective. Its not important really though.

Something sort of like this happened to me yesterday. I was messing around at the gymkhana with my prototype gtr lm race car and I would lock up my brakes but the throttle would still be applied maybe a millimeter if even that. When I let the brakes go it would accelerate up to about 8mph, with out me even touching it. I guess it could be my controller but it didnt seem like it.
