So now I have completed most of the game, down to the One make races, doing the Ford one, with the GT40, it's god damn impossible, I don't know how the creators thought an average racing gamer could do this?

Firstly the car is a puzzle to me, most will say learn how to drive it but honestly, who ever makes a car that has to be driven like this are confuses me, it's not suppose to be this hard is it?

Second the penalty system is just... SIGH!!, I can't stress how crap it is. I can ram a car, not get penalized, a car can ram me, I get penalized, I smash in to a barrier, no penalty, I have the slightest touch on the barrier and I get penalized, then when i slow down to like 20mph, the Ford GT40 has enough and spins out.

This game has become nothing more than a total hard core racing gamers game, not for the average racer at all, I hope that PD make different difficulty settings or something, so they can please both the hardcore and average gamers.

And get rid of that penalty system or fix it.

I havent played it myself but from what youve said it does seem like it can be frustrating to a casual gamer. Maybe its ment to be one of the hardest points of the game. You said that youve completed the majority of it. Maybe this Ford challenge is the equivalent to a boss fight in action/rpg type game. As far as the penalty system goes ive forseen these probles you speak of, but I thought of them being a huge problem for online play. But this is what the prologue is for, PD will make changes if theres enough bad feed back. But dont give up Bro.

There is nothing hardcore about a penalty system that rewards bad driving.

Don't not mistake bad programming as a feature. A hardcore sim does not need a penalty system. To a lot of people GT5 is nothing more than Mario cart but without Mario.

I can't seem to get around Mission 34, but I don't complain about it, one day I will get pass it!

For people that complain like this, go buy Burnout

All the other games do not have the "feel" GT games do.

I never said GT never felt good in general. I am just not happy about the penalty system, it has many flaws, yes this is Prologue, but we still had to pay $60 Australian for it.

Does the Ford GT40 handle like that IRL? Cause if it does then what a crap car, honestly, yes it is what it is but seriously, I would rather a easier to drive car than that.

I now only have that race to go, the FORD one make race, so if anyone can tune that GT40 for me to have the best chance at finishing then please do, any help will do.

This reminds me about poeple complaining about mission 34 in GT4... It took me two weeks to win it!

Oh... And don't you mean the Ford GT, not GT40

Yeah I meant Ford GT.

And I still to this day, never completed mission 34 in GT4. 4 seconds off was my best.

Oh well, just try to you succed! (The Ford GT race of course). You can think of it as mission 34 (Spec II) just without the 2 minute wait!

Yep. The penalty system sometimes pisses me off a lot, especially when YOU get penalized for the AI ramming you.

Another thing that annoys me is race S-7... I can't seem to get any higher than 4th on that, and then the top three cars are always a third of the length of the track away from me. I've beaten everything else in the game on mostly gold with a couple of silvers, but this one is extremely hard, for some reason. Any tips on which car to drive here? I've tried many...

Watch this It'll give you an idea of why your having problems, The GT car your trying to drive isn't a road car it will try and kill you LOL turn all the driver aids ON, get used to it then start reduceing and then removing the driver aids. once you master it (don't expect to jump in and 10 mins later have mastered it) you'll find driving the road cars will be a whole lot easie after thisr. The game will in fact have taught you how to drive better! Thas what makes GT5p such a faboulus game!

Its true that the penalty system is faulty, but on average I think its OK. I've been rammed a few times by AI and it doesn't affect me, but it sure doesn't affect them either, which means you ram -> you're slowed down, ai rams -> nothing happens, for the majority of situations.

As for that race, yes, Ford GT is a difficult car to drive on the limit, I never drove one, but that what I hear all the reviewers say. Hard-omfg I kill PD-almost-impossible races always existed, and most of times they are not supposed to exists.

I guess it is a way to separate GT godskilled drivers from me.

All i can say is WOW, thats one insane video!!!

Gives you an idea of the difference between a road car and a race car, Richard Hammond is a decent driver (no he's not a driving god LOL) but he was like a 17 year old getting into a car to drive it for the first time with even the 2.0 liter baby race car LOL

To the OP.

To be real with you....i feel GT, isn't hard enough, i have yet to try GT5P, but with Forza + GTR + Rfactor, fighting at GT'S realism, they really have to get it to that level where doing laps in gt is as close as possible to doing laps in real life.

People need to understand it's a SIMULATOR.

I began flight school not long ago and when i got to school, all i saw is one class room......and 3 Microsoft flight sim simulator stations. That's because Microsoft acknowledged that their "game" had to be as real as possible in order to train pilots.

Allot of us have that same feeling toward GT. We are not gamers. We are car/bike enthusiast and driving is everything to us. GT lets us practice without having to spend 250+ dollars every weekend for a track day. (I would love that, but i'm not rich.) So you see, the harder it is, the better you learn. Racing a real car ON A REAL TRACK, IM NOT TALKING ABOUT STREET NONSENSE, is very frustrating and GT helps jump over that.

Granted you will need a setup like the G25 or better to play it right~ You can't drive a car with a ps3 knob for real.

can someone remind me what mission 34 was from gt4, i dont feel like setting up the ps2 cause i dont feel like getting that whole setup apart.

Its the one in the SLR were you have to overtake 5 other mercedes' around 1 lap of the Nurburg ring, but the lead car gets a 2min headstart, so your left there sitting on the grid for 120seconds just waiting. I've often walked off for a second and then came back to see the SLR rolling down the hill!!

dont stress out, some of the bigger challenges in the game SHOULD take more than just 10 tries

dont you remember the missions in gt4? or getting golds in some of the harder license tests?

i really really hope GT5 will have something similar to mission 34.. and it should be on the Ring again, i dont think any one track can match its challenge and epicness

GT5p has allot of mission 34's, lots of race's are impossible to win on professional physics.

The Ford GT is a blast to drive with G25 and pro settings. Because it's so damn horrible! The front to back weight ratio must be like 90/10 because that tail spins no matter what you do. Careful driving, heel&toe and slow liftoff of both brake and gas is a must. And when it spins it's near impossible to recover if you don't catch it early and don't panic. I've screamed a few bad words when racing the GT, but when you master it it's amazing! 4th gear stops at just under 300kph :D

The GT makes you change your comfortable driving style in a hurry thats for sure, but when driven in a way to suit that car, it is very fast indeed.

The rear is very happy to oversteer (oversteer? I mean SNAP!) entering corners while trailbraking or downshifting, then with the great almost instant torque the engine provides overcomes the rear tyres fast when still in the corner. Though it has great rear grip when accelerating in a straight line and the weight is fully shifted on the rear wheels.

I love it!

I tried for 3-4 hours straight, every time I got in to 2nd or something, some lame AI car rams me off the track and I get a penalty.

you will probably notice that if you are braking at the time and they ram into the back of you..... you will be penalised! i you're not braking at the time you wont be!! a good way to work out where the penalties are coming is the watch the replays and look for yourself.... sometimes it makes you realise you are doing something you probably shouldn't have been doing! plus of course the penalty system as already stated is nowhere near perfect... i have been penalised many times unfairly (or so i thought) until i watched the replay....... then it was like..... oh oops :) hahaha

I brake in the breaking zone, I turned the driving line on to look, I maybe if anything break like 1 yard at the best to soon, surely thats not like the worst thin in the world?

Well I just had a few shots of S-8 with the GT and golded it by .34x

after a couple laps I realised this is going to take a different technique, I increased Brake pressure 10 on the front and 7 on the rear and increased ABS a few notches (using realtime setting adjustment), giving it a extra stopping power but less rear bias to keep the rear more stable on trail in.

During the lap I braked while going straight with only a small trail in, but the main tip is I braked and throttled the same time, I amost always had some throttle on to keep the rear stable, only time I let off of the throttle completely was to get the car pointed out of the corner so I could flat throttle it for good exit speed.

On my gold lap I had no draft at all or AI cars in my way, but a good draft would have helped.

I am sure I could have done it with standard brake settings but I wanted any edge I could get.

GT5p has allot of mission 34's, lots of race's are impossible to win on professional physics.

Some of the missions in GT4 might be annoying, but they are still fair. If a good driver plays a mission ten times, he will beat it ten times.

I haven't tried pro physics yet, but even with standard physics many missions in GT5P are just luck. For exmaple the hot laps.

Then there is the penalty system. If the designers don't want me to cut a corner, why don't they just put some tires outside the corner? Why do I get a penalty if my car is one inch outside the track? I also think the instant penalties are not realistic. If I do something illegal, send me into or through the pit lane, but don't slow me down and turn my car into a ghost car with no mass. That's stupid. Maybe PD should licence Nintendo's Lakitu on his cloud. Whenever you do something wrong, he comes along and punishes you!

I lol'ed. 👍

i find the hardest bits of the game so far are the time challenges..a well planned lap is req'd here..often waiting and having a slow lap to make benefit of a good 'tow'

there is a huge jump between standard and professional physics..too much id say. Races i struggle with in Pro' mode are done with ease on standard..you can get away with so much on standard physics..doesnt seem very standard to me, more like an arcade setting.

Standard is by definition, the arcade version.

The real challenge has always been with the professional physics.

GT has and always will be a simulator, its meant to be the closest any game gets to real life, handling and graphics wise. So, if the Ford GT is hard to control, its probably very realistic, and is ACTUALLY that difficult to handle in real life.

I am just finishing a degree in motorsport, and have done countless modules on car setup, so when i tune cars and change parts in the GT games, I know exactly what kind of a difference in handling im looking for from the car... and frankly, GT have always been pretty damn good. For that reason, I don't doubt that they have modelled the handling on the Ford GT very very well. So to everyone struggling with the FORD GT i can only advise to just get on and practice :)

Btw any recommendations for steering wheels from anyone? Was thinking of getting logitech driving force pro.

No infact its nothing like that at all. Here PD has made a mistake. You have to use the same line and speed trough the corners as the AI, or get rear ended.

I understand this rear end penalty for online play, but for play offline, against a rigid AI, is just to make a good simulator into more of a arcade game.

There is of corse a good way of doing this, implement a damage system, instead of this game of chanse.
