Don't you hate those days when you'll fancy a nice session on GT but just can't drive like you normally can?

I'm very consistent... not at a high level, but consistent nevertheless. Then some days my skill level plummets down and often ends in rage quits, swearing and general confusion. The rest of the day is usually affected and general clumsiness ensues.

I wonder if others... gamers or even real life racing drivers suffer these days of dumb?

.........................

..............Nope. Never a whole off day. Maybe an "off" moment now and then.

I can relate more in First Person Shooters than in Gran Turismo, because I am kinda fast, but really irregular

Sometimes I am fighting for podiums and wins, and sometimes I struggle to even get into the top 10.

But in FPS games, I am overall really good, but there are days where I can't shoot at the enemy even if it is at point blank range

I sometimes have days where I just don't want to drive, but I don't have 'off' days like you're describing.

I get fed up with driving/playing if I overdo it (with varying tolerance). I don't think I would have difficulty if I had a good motivation. What I remember supports that, but of course perceived bad performance feeds back to it.

Yep, at least one day out of every couple of weeks where it just seems like someone stole all my virtual skill. Those are the days where I just pack it in early and call it a day....no sense in getting frustrated and pushing things, better to take a break to race another day. I've also had a few "slumps" here and there where, for around 3-4 days it seems like I'm completely new to driving, nothing seems to go right. Those are the times where you just have to work through it.

Should be an "always" option, I'm such a bad gt6 driver I won't even enter a online circuit lobby. Maybe someday if I get a wheel but that probably won't be well into gt7 or even 8.

I've had days when I know I'm nowhere near my max pace. In the past when I'm on form I've done some pretty insane laps like doing a 1:16.8 on Stage 3 of the Aryton Senna tribute.

On the other hand, I've had days where I just can't get to grips with the car and track combo and end up either overdriving the car and spinning out or going nowhere near the limits and losing time because of it.

Most of the time I try and push through it and it usually works, but sometimes you just have to hit the brakes and compose yourself, or just throw a Yellowbird around the ring mostly sideways to resharpen your skills. :p

When I first started playing through GT6 and did all of the "Career" Races, I never felt like I had any "Off-Days" until I started doing the harder "Endurance" races and even then, it was just a matter of knowing the right strategy to win. Nowadays, I have to really be in the mood or go for seasonals to get a rhythm going and not spin out on every corner, regardless of the car...

I definitely have those days, in fact, I have them quite often, that's exactly the reason why I'm furious at Polyphony for not bringing that B-Spec yet!

OHHHH YEAH!! I have them and it sometimes comes when I want to do well like in an online league race. Happens if I'm stressed or if I've been up for a long time. Sometimes its just stress, and I've even been awake for over 15 hours (end of day) and raced very fast so stress and just general anger makes me mess up most of the time and want to smash the TV!!:banghead:

Its best to take a deep breath and just try and relax and settle into a manageable pace, if you can prevent the crashes and go slow its a good way to manage a lack of concentration. Usually "slow" only has to be 1 sec a lap off your Personal best, if you just relax.

Occasionally, nobody is perfect. 'Alien' maybe, but not perfect. :p

I'm looking forward to the learning-curve though, during the switch to P.CARS, it'll be refreshing after GT6.

I'm usually a robot, but occasionally I'll have an off day & keep on making too many uncharacteristic mistakes.

Good thread by the way!

👍

I don't have a very well developed sense of pace, so I probably couldn't tell if I was just a bit rubbish or came across a particularly challenging car / track combo.

What does happen too often is, after a long day, I'll fire up GT, or some other driving game, pick a combo and set off. Shortly thereafter I'll find myself in a half-awake semi-trance, bouncing off the scenery at full throttle...
