Hi guys, I was wondering what would you think if PolyPhony Digital added a runway into Gran Turismo 6. For example Turn 10 added one into Forza and it was very successful. This would be great for the speed run mode (Even know SSX was made for the, but for some reason wasn't implemented into GT6) but i think it could mean that quater mile drag races could be started again and it means that you dont have to deal with the bridge on SSX to find the real top speed of your car. It could also mean that some exploration could be added as you can drive on the taxi ways and around the air field and if made properly could be great for everything.

I know this is a lot like SSX but this is what I would love to see in the future, i am a bit bored of driving round and round in circles on SSX so would be nice. Please comment your views below. This is unlikely that this would happen but we can dream.

many thanks

We had the Top Gear Test Track in GT5, but I think PD lost the license to use the track in GT6.

Most tracks have long straights, many of which could be used for quarter miles runs. All PD needs to do is add a start point & a finish point, then save it as a new track. Simples.

While I rarely used the Speed Test tools on GT5 after the initial novelty waned I cannot understand why they were removed from GT6. Seems odd to develop the parameters for those tests then bin them when the circuit utilised is in the sequel. PD 'logic'...

I assume you are suggesting an infinite runway since you say that you would not have to deal with the bridge at SSRX in order to test your top speed.

Also, exploration on a runway..?

As far as drag racing is concerned I wish that Infineon were brought back, and this time implement the drag strips that are within.
Also I would love to have an airstrip. It would surely be fun, especially if it had 24hr time change so at night it would be lit up nicely and serve as a car
meet/show spot.

I think this a great suggestion... I dont see why not. PD are master track creators, so they could really do something nice.

SSRX has back straight without any bridge, so if you want, you can do all your runs on that part of the track only. Infact GT5 top speed test is using the back straight of SSRX.

They should fix high speed acceleration and top speed calculation (physics) at first (which have nothing common with real life), rather than introducing another similar track

Or they could give us Sebring.
To me this would be the ideal solution. Seems like it would save some time only having to model a single large environment and there would be a great deal of duplication between the runway version of the facility and the circuit version(s).

What about a Test Track, like they had in GT3, but open. Recently I rented Dirt 3 and had a lot of fun with the gymkhana practice thing.
Maybe a track, with a road course, an oval, and a drag strip, aswell as something like the Dirt 3 gymkhana courses too.

EDIT: FLATOUT 2! It had that. It was an oval, and although it didn't have a "Road Course", it DID have small areas inside the oval, one with a dirt track, one with an asphalt track and one with ramps of varying heights. They were just marked by cones (and a little, how do you say it, road wear), but it was still very cool.

Infinite runway still seems like the best idea. (reading all posts). Maybe contact whoever makes Fast and Furious 6 ;)
Or a 4 mile runway this might be enough.

Why not just go ahead and build a copy of Ehra-Lessien? That's gotta be one of the best testing facilities in the world. For the drag racers, there are plenty of areas that could be marked off for 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and 1 mile runs. Just like PD created different layouts within Cape Ring, the same could be done with an Ehra-Lessien replica.

It really seems almost ridiculous that Gran Turismo doesn't have a dedicated drag strip with the Christmas Tree starting lights and such. I'm not into drag racing, but thousands are...if they've decided to incorporate drifting into the "real driving simulator", surely drag racing should be okay. Give the people what they want...especially since it would be so easy.

Just remake Complex String with a longer, 2 mile straight including the dragstrip for events (note: The FM5 one isn't good enough...)

I don't get why SSRX doesn't suffice? It's just two massive straights (like a runway) with 2 huge, heavily banked, corners.
