What do you guys think of it?

I think it's a great addition, I wish they would of added the proper contact physics to it but it's ok.

What's not right for me is how it sounds, for some reason I sounds like a hair dryer in some views.... why?

It's meh, not snappy like it is in other racing games, isn't difficult to drive, and the sound is weird. And it's not very accurate to the real life 97T/98T, it can't even match Brands Hatch and Monza times set by Senna during those years. Best I can do on Brands Hatch is 1:18 vs Senna's 1:07 and Monza 1:39 vs Senna's 1:25.

It's very easy to drive for me. Tcs 2, no csa, no asm, weak abs, I still bungle it though as per my skill level, but still easy to drive.

are u drunk? my best is 1:06:5XX after 30 min practice for the first time on that track in that game, on realistic lobby setup and soft tires, without any assists (only abs on) and without special car setup

If you are doing 1.18 on Brands you are losing a shed load of time - I had a go last night and on hards was at low 1.10 within a few laps. I'd say 1.07 is fairly doable!

I love it, great fun to drive but quite a challenge to squeeze out the last bit of speed. I spent an hour or so in a lobby waiting for a friend hotlapping the new B layout of Blue Moon and managed a 35.995 laptime after like 40 laps. And I‘m usually not really a fan of hotlapping :D
Find yourself a non-mainstream-livery and just enjoy it :)

Understeer at low speeds is awful, I don't know where the hell PD got that from, and the engine sound is disappointing but alas, it's a 1500cc turbo engine, it's sounds reminds me of the **** we got on F1 nowadays, lol!

It drives in a very similar fashion to the Porsche Hybrid, but instead of the hybrid system kicking in you've got a ruddy great turbo spooling up! You need to trail brake into the corner, get it straight as quickly as possible and then blast off like a scalded cat! Can't wait for a daily race C with it!

I dont like the sound. But I dont know the “real sound”.

I also find it too easy to drive. But maybe I am going to slow if I see some posts here ?

Pretty much sums it up, once your straight you blast off like a rocket with what seems to be the shortest 1-3 gears in history. It feels better with a H shifter than paddles

It feels odd to drive.. I was expecting lots of power and a very twitchy feel but it doesn't feel like that when I drive it. Plus the sound is all glitched, for some weird reason when I get close to another f1500 the sound of my vehicle suddenly goes way low while the sound of the car next to me is over powering. It's really weird and screws up my shifting in the corners because I can't hear my engine revs. I've put off driving it in races until they fix that sound glitch.

Remember though the tracks have changed.

The track in 1986 looked like this:

Brands-HatchGP76.42809908430a6663c97b2ee38cce2ca7.png

And the track now looks like this:

Brands-HatchGP03.42809908430a6663c97b2ee38cce2ca7.png

Graham Hill bend has been significantly tightened, Westfield bend is likely slower now and possibly the same with Sheene's.

Monza has changed quite a bit as well. Look at this video below and it's remarkable just how much has changed. On a track map it looks very similar but to me the two chicanes at the start of the lap are faster than the current tight one, the "second chicane" is miles quicker and both lesmos look far quicker.

Makes me sad to see that video to be honest. That lap is thrilling from start to finish, the two lesmos in particular look insane! Games like GT Sport should celebrate the dangers of old and design some outrageous circuits with the knowledge that no one will be hurt on their virtual representations.

Way too easy to drive, based on AC/PC2’s 98T I was expecting a much more difficult car, instead it feels like a sunday drive, takes all fun away. And no, I don’t use TC, only ABS on weak
BTW guys (and gals) what are your times around Dragon Trail in it?

That car is surprisingly nice to me to the point it is one of my favorites in the game, even though I'm not into high aero cars usually. It's fast and pretty fun to drive, but the best part is it manages to be somewhat challenging while being easy to drive without crashing for most people. It's like the perfect car to run a championship with your friends. Sure, it's way, way easier than the 97T in any other game - including GT6 - but this is not a 97T (if you read the in-game description, it basically tells you they rebuilt a F1 from that era with the same regulations but using modern technologies below the skin), so it's a different kind of fun. Maybe try it on sports tyres if you want your turbo lag to be more deadly.

The low speed understeer is not surprising as you lose the aero and are left with tiny front tyres and a wider front track, but this is something you can correct if you want to allow suspension settings in your races.

I did some races in lobbies with this already, stock setup, one time full power medium tyres and the other one 700hp and soft tyres, both lobbies produced good and fun racing. Only thing I'm missing is the ability to force the aero to minimum and do some kind of lower tier series running 500 to 600hp on hards.

Low 1:15, high 1:14 if I‘m lucky

It‘s not an H-pattern car tho ;)

I don’t think it is but it changes fear like it is, changes are better with the shifter than with paddles.if you lift off then paddle shift it will pick up better.

Just go into cockpit view and use the right analogue stick to make the camera show the hand going to the shifter. Then shift up or down. The car has a sequential gearbox :)
I need to try lifting before shifting, thanks for the tip 👍

I know, but still a whole lot more fun to drive it like that then with paddles and auto clutch ;).

Wish the G29 shifter worked like the G25 one and could be set to either H-pattern or sequential.

If the car has a "sequential" gearbox it's a poor representation of an 80s F1.

No one used sequential gearbox at the time, everybody were on H pattern gearboxes, most of the teams jumped directly from H pattern to paddle shifter (or buttons in the Ferrari 640, the first one using the semi automatic gearbox) in early 90s. Which were sequential gearboxes using electronic controlled servos to actuate.

But cars like the Lotus 97T had H pattern gearboxes, notably the T97 had a Hewland 5 speed gearbox.

The game claims the car to be 80's looking with today's technology. Since paddles wouldn't be 80's looking they went with the shifter option 👍
