No doubt that GT is a wonderful experience when it comes to driving, overtaking, mastering techniques & slip streaming but sometimes things are a little puzzling if not annoying!

I'm talking about the License tests! As we all know that there are certain tests which need to be completed in order to take part in various types of races! Getting a bronze or a silver trophy maybe easy for certain people or tests but when it comes to gold its another tale to tell!

No doubt that the tests were designed in a way to get the best out of you! Some tests help you master overtaking whereas some help you become more precise! Whilst all this happens, some tests are really hard to master & get a gold trophy for!

There are friends who've spent hours on a single test! Don't know what is more pissing off - when you get disqualified or when you only shave off a thousandth of a second in spite of trying your best?

I feel it's easier to shave off a second or a hundredth of a second in order to get gold but when you've to make thousandths of seconds which actually is your best time of many hours of hard work at times, it's much more tougher!

What I've realised as well after playing GT4 & GT5 is that the license tests don't specifically wish to help you master a particular curve, chicane or a lap of a track but it's more of mastering that specific car used in the test! There are 100's of cars & every car no doubt handles in it's own way! Some cars can't turn well at high speeds or don't brake well while negotiating turns so if we get such kind of cars for a test then it's actually trying to master that specific car more than the series of bends or a lap!

For all of us all the tracks are quite simple to win either with a great car or after modifying it but when we get cars in tests which are basic in handling then it gets quite tough to win the gold trophy! It's more important to understand the car we are driving for the test & then master it before trying to beat the best time!

Nonetheless every tough test or race poses as a challenge for us which I'm sure we would always happily accept because GT5 is something that is close to being magical & a great stress buster!

I have noticed this and I do agree. Often time, its not so much learning the track as much as learning the given car's reaction to the track in test. I too have spent hours on end shaving off mere milliseconds. I have also learned certain things too. After taking my car IRL and pushing it for quite some time, I started noticing my sitakes. Those that are hard to make up for with a DS3, but that wheel can more accurately pinpoint as well as other errors that I continued even with wheel. Throttle timing, power balance, brake balance, and most of all, turning. I noticed that If I didn't the line absolutely perfectly its all messed up. Thats a given. What I didn't notice is the slight amount of steering just passed range of whcih the car is actually turning (is this called the slip angle?) I'd start to bleed very minute amounts of speed but I'd have even more difficulty with stability when straightening the car. It was weird. I learned to not push the car so much, and to steer just short of the max, and often the car would simply pull into the proper grovve and voila, gold. Though its not always the cae. Some License test car/track combos just don't mix.

I'd say 50/50. You have to know both. To drive Nurburgring you gotta know it. But you also have to know what the car you're driving will do on it. For example, that hot straight after the turn to the north on Nurb, I know I can go flat out on that with the 458 Italia, BMW M5, BMW Z4M and Lexus IS-F. I can't do it with the Enzo Ferrari. When I brake after that hot staight, I know the Z4M and Italia have to be further left then the other two vehicles cause they'll want to go right when I hit the brakes, not so the M5 or IS-F. Theyll slow down without a wiggle, and be ready to go for the turn left.

The endurance races are the silliest part of the game! Hell with hours of running around the same track. Any intelligent person gets quickly bored with it.

I completely agree about being the stress buster. So many times when I'm having a 🤬 day at work and dealing with a bunch of crap, coming home and just cruising around on in one of my favorite cars on a favorite track is a great stress buster. (Even though at times I will say GT is a stress causer at times.)

It gets boring because you are usually racing yourself, if the AI was better or you've chosen a lesser car it'll be more fun

Wait wait, let me guess your one of the 'intelligent' people running the endurances in an X1?

I would think any ' intelligent ' person would realise it's a driving game, you should buy it if you love driving.
If you get bored of racing around a track( the whole point of the game) then you should take your 'intelligence' to another game, maybe World of Warcraft is for you?

I won the Grand Valley 300km by 4 seconds, i assure you that was 2 and something hours of very close racing and pushing my tyres till they were screaming out for a change , then i realised it was better to pit earlier and maintain better laps, pit strategy was oh so important i was loving it . Choose an appropriate car and enjoy the race.

Your told what the opponents car is so you can set your own challenge, no matter if your new to driving or an expert, the difficulty is in your hands - why don't people understand that?

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

i wish they just give more time for gold in a few of the events. i use a DS3 and cant get platinum unless they lower times

Most of the licence tests don't teach you much about real driving because you are forced to use SRF, they don't teach much about real racing either because some of them encourage bad technique like super late lunges up the inside with no penalties for making contact with other cars.
