I Have noticed that when I am looking at my subscribed threads, after I have them all marked as read and I close and reopen my browser they aren't marked as read anymore. The problem does not occur if I just close the tab, only when the entire browser is closed. Any ideas on what's going on?
I use google chrome.

That's actually normal behavior (though obviously not optimal). A thread's "read" status is determined by a cookie stored in your browser, and that cookie is automatically deleted when you quit your browser. If that cookie is deleted before the server realizes that your session has actually closed/expired and you then re-open the site, it will inaccurately display the threads to you as "unread".

You can prevent this from happening by signing out of your account before you quit your browser, thus notifying the server that your current browsing session has ended, or you can wait for 30 minutes for the server to naturally expire your session.

Would this be the same for the iPhone app? I've had the same problem / query.

At least I've found that the iPhone app doesn't have the problem for me.

You should be aware, though, that when you log out all threads on the entire forum are marked as "read", regardless of whether you've actually read them or not.

This means that I only log onto GT Planet when I'm sure I have the time to go through all the subforums that I normally go through; if I log on for a quick 'n' dirty update on something I completely lose track of where I am in all the other threads I'm interested in.
