How is it moderators decide what is a good thread and what isn't. Is there a rulebook?
A good thread is a thread posted in the right place, that will add quality information and contain quality discussion that enhances GTP.

A bad thread is one that is posted in the wrong place (as this one was), or one that will cause arguments and conflict (like your thread that was locked), or one that has been posted before.

I know what this is abut. Your thread, "Fanboys" was closed because it was a duplicate. We've had several of these discussions in the recent past. "Why all the hate?" threads tend to end badly, especially when you title it "Fanboys". Whatever your original intentions, the thread was on a slippery slope to an inevitable dispute. It was better to close it early then to let it get to the point where it was out of control.
