Three Tv's for Gt3

I was reading one of my old tips and tricks game magizines where it had a walkthrough of gt3. They were interviewing the producer of the american version of gt3 where he said that you could hook up three tv's to the game and get like one front view and to side view like you have in a real car. Is this true or not just asking.
 
Yes, it's true. You need 3 PS2s, 3 GT3s and 3 TVs and an iLink hub to link the PS2s together. you use the centre one as your driving view and, on the ones either side, you setup left and right views respectively.
 
Big news to me.... I'll have to try someday, if I ever have th echance...
 
With more TVs and consoles, etc. you can have more views, too.
With more hubs, you can have up to 6 players plus lots of different audience views.

You can cycle through the views and examine them now, even without the extra equipment, if you wish.

It's in the iLink Battle menu. Use Broadcast.

Not worth it whatsoever! It would be useful for the guy that had the huge collection of consoles on Ebay a couple of months back.

For the most part, you're right, but don't forget that the feature was made for a reason. The rest is up to the player.

I'd be fun if ya just had some friends get together and ya did it, but buying all that would be way too much money..
 
If 2 of your mates brought their PS 2's and copies of GT 3, then yes it would be quite a novelty. Otherwise for rich heads only.
 
I never knew it was possible, i'll probably try this when the ps2 is out of date and really cheapER
 
Dude that is so cool so it was true what I said it's kind of gay that you need 3 gt3 and 3 consoles.

How can you say this? I think it would enhance the "in-car view" quite considerably.

When people ask me why I use this view, I say "well, when you're driving a car in real life you don't sit behind the car and look down on it from above, do you? No."

I would love this, but I'm not a Richie Rich so I have to make do. :(
 
I have three PS2s. One I bought new. The other two I bought for £35 and £37.50 as "Disk Read Errors" off eBay.

It's not that expensive - other than the iLink Hub - to set up.

I have raced in the sim machine with the three screens and, initially, I found it quite distracting. Also, as I got into it more, I found I ignored the extra screens completely.

Since the side views are 90 degrees left/right, you can use them to see how a pass develops, but it can't help for much more than have a slightly better view in slow right-angle corners.

Some PC racing games can have more than one screen, too.

I think that Subaru made a simulator using that configuration.
 
It's just not much use in GT3, unless you do a 6TV set up for two players, because you can only play like this in iLink mode - would have been more fun if you could play sim mode that way. :D

On the other hand, you can actually set up 18 PS2s and TVs to make this work for 6 players, and that would be pretty cool ... :P

Yes, Sim mode would have been nice.

The player count can't change to more than 6, and the extra views can go up to 6 for each player. In other words, 36 consoles. So, the maximum iLink network would therefore be 6 players using all 6 views (7 hubs)?

I have had 4 PS2 all hooked up for GT3, Timesplitters 2, and ATV off road fury 2. Since all my friends already had a PS2, all we had to buy were the I-Link cables and the I link hub.
Since online has become so big I havent found any reason for the I-link set up. Just so many wires and so many people in 1 room.

The wires I got off the internet for only about $6.00 each. The hub cost me about $50 but this was about 3 years ago. So for under $75 we were able to all play together on seperate tvs in the same game.
 
At those prices, at that time, you must have bought the hardware at wholesale prices.
Only recently has a cable price come down to about $12CDN.

The most amazing thing is I just looked for the reciept and now its right in front of me with the exact numbers:

Or you could be like me and get all the firewire cables for free because you work for a company that buys Macs like they're going out of style. They used to each come with a cable (for whatever dumb reason) and I've saved them all. Then I bought a hub from Best Buy that had been opened and returned - got it for like $30.

Camaroboy - is 6 feet enough? I would think not. I've had three PS2's set up and it's hard to get them all into that 12 foot diameter circle that the hub lets you use. I've got two cables that are hella long just incase.

Then arrange the TV in the necessary manner and race away. I think you can have as many in a network as you have money to buy, but it may actually be limited to six total PS2s. So you could have 5 TVs forward, and another one on top of your center one looking backwards as a rear view. That'd be PHAT.
