Any golf fans out there? This will be GTP's official thread for organising tournaments and game discussion in general. Maybe there will be some good golfing tips better golfers can pass down.
Personally I do now consider myself a veteran of the Tiger Woods series. Although having only played it since 2004, that is 4 consecutive years. (I had to skip on '08 because of a glitch in the game that kept disabling power boost on me). But now as soon as I can afford it I'll be back with '09. In '07 I had a total of 12 custom players all at perfect stats, a best round of 40 (at St Andrews off the whites :p) and averaged high 40s. I also created a course comprised of my opinion of the hardest holes to play in the game, which was only played on the hardest difficulty. Most people struggled to make par, even gamebreaker was normally incapable of getting a hole-in-one on a par 3.:trouble:

Anyway, feel free to start the chat, I'll be getting the game as soon as possible to launch my golfing career.:)
 
I am a huge Tiger Woods gamer , however I am going to keep on playing '08 , there is just much more for me to do in this game. Not ready for '09 yet , probably won't jump into another TW game until '10 when it gets released , by then '08 should be completed.

4 golfers , 3 @ 100 % + ( did myself, not storebought online ) , other golfer @ 60 % , working on building it up.

Still many trophy's , rewards to be unlocked , so '08 will keep me busy for a while. Still involved in the season tournament mode which takes time.

Between GT5P,TW-08,F1CE (weekly leauge I'm in),Ferrari Challenge,really can't get involved in another lengthy game.
 
I do play TW games and have for a long time '01 on the Game Cube been the best in my opinion, I have got '08 but I've not really played it, I found the game too clunky and the framerate is poor. For me the best game out is Everybody's Golf or in some countries Hot Shots Golf.

Its fun and easy to pick up with allot of things to unlock, also we find that the multi player online and off is better all round than the poor EA offering.

Is '09 any better than '08 because from what I can gather its the same game just slightly polished with a few more courses? I could be wrong.
 
I don't know if '09s better than '08, I haven't played either. '09 offers club tuning, sort of like real golf where you can buy clubs that suit you, a "coach", realistic dynamic skills (that get better or worse depending on how you play), and the same good old accurate player modelling.
Personally I couldn't accept Everybody's Golf, not realistic at all. I like Tiger Woods for the realism (even though your scores are a lot better than IRL of course).

I have been playing the '09 demo, a par 5, par 4 and par 3 are the only 3 holes on the demo (from the Gary Player Country Club) and I still got it.:sly: Eagle, birdie, birdie every time.:D I'm getting the full game on Thursday, even though a flat tyre will now dip into my bank account balance, I'll just get money from my savings and pay it back soon if I have to.

The best Golf game ever is Microsoft Links though.
 
I used to be a big TW fan until this generation of gaming. Despite larger capacity, there are fewer courses. Then they are forcing us to pay for courses that should be in the game to begin with. IMO, every course the PGA tour visits should be in the game period. Could you imagine if Madden did not have every team and it's stadium in the NFL in it's games! Even NASCAR 09 does not have EVERY track they visited this year and that's bogus.

Wow, 37 is awesome. In 09 though we can play each other online, and organise tournaments. It's also a bit more realistic, with club tuner, a coach, improved visual and no gamebreaker.:)
 
We're going to have a round later on guys.:) Anyone else interested?

Edit: OK online sucks. If you thought GT5:P was bad lately with failed connects, TW is 10x worse. Always saying bad connection. I got in one alternate shot game, but mr_VOLCANO wasn't in it.:(

Wow, I just found this now, Im a huge fan of TW games I started since the 2001 version and skipped every second year
 
OK then, here's soem advice. DON'T get this one. Seriously, online barely works at all, and '07 had 3 times the content and a far better atmosphere and career mode.
 
Im affraid that advice is a little to late, I got the game for Xmas, but Im still enjoying the game, the downside to it for me is that your attributes go of averages, and you can improve with drills. I really don't see the point of drills, when you can simply play a bad round, and then lose the stats you got from the drill. Also the money seems unrealistic, I liked the money system for 2005 the best, as the prizes resembled real life purses, unlike 09 which are only like $150,000 and so on.Anyways.... onto my main question....

Can someone explain me how does the attributes system work?
 
For the drills you only get a temporary boost for the next round you play in. To increase your actual stats you need to improve the listed stats. It's a stupid system I decided in the end, because I was very much a bomb and gouge player, but now if you frequently miss the fairway your power stats go down and you can't even bomb it then.
