Hello everyone.I was wondering if i could get a bit of help on the issue i'm about to ask.

I've been having Sound issues with this game.

I have a lot of popping and cracking coming from my speakers from certain speech parts of the game, when you make a club selection and from other sections as well.

At first i thought it was my old Panasonic speakers, but recently i went out and bought me some Klipsch 5.1 surround sound speakers. This did not fix anything and i still have popping and cracking coming from my speakers.

I know now that there is nothing wrong with my Home theater set-up so obviously it's a problem with the game itself.

Is there anyway i can fix this in the settings on the PS3?

How do you output your sound from the PS3? HDMI? or RCA? It can make a big difference, I think, on how you output your sound to get that popping sound.

I have HDMI running from my PS3 to my Receiver.

I don't have any problems with any other games, it's just Tiger Woods.

Just as an experiment i'll change around my HDMI cables as i have 3 in the back of the receiver going to different things.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Well i've been doing some testing and i've tried every HDMI cable i have and it still pops pretty badly on the sections i mentioned.

I also have a Optical Cable and i'm trying that. The popping isn't nearly as bad as the HDMI,but it's still there.

I've noticed that the game will hesitate when loading the hole and this is when you hear the popping.Same goes for when your switching clubs as it will hesitate just a bit and pop.

I wonder if i re-installed the game if this would help any.I'm all out of ideas here.

Try RCA for your audio only and plug your HDMI cable directly into the TV. I have this odd problem with my TV not playing Audio from HDMI, but I can play audio through a PS2 cable just fine through surround sound.

Maybe you are having the same problem?

EDIT: I am such an idiot. EA has an idiotic solution to the problem.

1. Start up your console and load the game.
2. While the game is loading, unplug the HDMI cable from your console.
3. Plug the HDMI cable back in and let the game finish loading.

While the effect may not be immediate, sound should start playing from the game after it comes up.

So doing this should fix the popping?Yeah you are right this is idiotic as i don't see how this would work, but i've tried almost everything so i'll give this a go after breakfast.

Any damage to the disc? Have you contacted EA support to see if there are any known issues?

I checked the Disc yesterday and not a single scratch on it(bought it brand new).

I've been searching the EA site with no luck at finding a solution,i guess i'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and make a account.

The whole point to this exercise is that the problem is that the game is trying to read the HDD and the disk at the same time, creating the popping, or in some cases, no sound issues. So far, EA doesn't really give a 🤬 about it, or else they would express out a patch for it.

I just tried component cables or RCA i should say and i still get popping.I'm going to try the steps you said now and see what happens.(i was going to do this first, but just wanted to try the RCA's instead).

The best thing would be to try your copy of the game on some elses PS3 and see if its happening there.

Also try and use a totally different sound system, like some PC speakers or something just to rule out your receiver.

Wish i had a friend who owned a PS3.All the people i know own a 360.

I know it's not my receiver as This game is the only game that does this.

I did try the HDMI thing and it didn't pop as bad,as it as said earlier EA knows about it and doesn't care so i guess i'll just have to keep the volume low and deal with it.

Never plug/unplug HDMI while electronics are on as this can damage the ports on the device.

Its an issue with the game, EA bang the TW games out with no regard for quality checks. I had the same issues so I removed all the data from my ps3 and tried again and hey presto has fixed the issue.

So what i need to do is get rid of the game data and not download the updates?

I thought about doing this but wasn't sure.

It could be that your particular disk hasn't been burned correctly, such errors do happen from time to time considering they are producing thousands every few minutes.

The only way you can know for sure is to try it on another PS3, beyond that I can't really recommend anything else if you have tried other sound systems in your house.

If you don't have any friends who have a PS3 you could go to an electronics store and ask to quickly play the game on one of their systems, after all they are there to demonstrate home theatre systems etc.

Robin.

That's what I did, uninstalled the game completely removing the extra courses I downloaded and even removed my save file and did a fresh install played the game and it was fine the did the updates and reinstalled the downloads and was still a-ok. Funny enough this was on my dads first gen fat ps3, my slim ps3 had no problems from the start.

You know that makes sense.I could have gotten bad disk.I'm on vacation at the moment so i guess i could try and see if i can do what you suggested.

I'll try that and see what happens.Been wanting to do it,but it takes forever to re-download the Course packs.I'll probably do it tomorrow.
