What are peoples thoughts on being able to have 4 wheels off the track on the new Monza time trial? I mean the prologue time trial rules were tough but it was fair, the green areas at Monza aren't part of the track! It might as well not be Monza.

As soon as I confirmed the lead times were posted by cutting I just didn't want to try anymore.

Anyone else feel the same?

(apologies if this has been discussed before, I'm a long time fan of the site first time poster)

Let the "Red Light" be your guide. Find the red light edges and that's where the edge of the track is aparently. The race is just for fun so learn to be a little devil and grow a set of hornzzzz.... :)

If the game is consistent in voiding laps that go outside the track, there are no shortcuts!

Yup!

Same story, different event that's all!!

Yep same here, that's the main reason why I keep out of that time trail!

I have always said how bad and ridiculous the penalty system is in this game. I have played plenty of racing games and never seen a system for a race sim as bad as this.

I came from Forza 3 because in my opinion it was a big let down, but one thing it had going for it was a far superior penalty system. In the feedback section I did start a thread for a better penalty system and was amazed at the stupid responses I got from others, who for sure don't realize that this is one of the essentials to make a great racing sim. Instead you get stupid threads for needless things like... eg. More tyre smoke, More rims. These are just two examples I thought were not necessary to implement in the game. An improved penalty system is by far more important than these examples I put up. But these days it seems people want games to be like NFS or Test Drive, what a joke it is.

That's because I'm doing Toscana.

Do the rally TT, it's a lot of fun... and I never usually do the TTs.

It really annoys me as I used to really enjoy the old Prologue leader board system and hoped I could get the same experience on the full game but it's not the case.

I must have a go at that Toscana road today since people are raving about it.

Yeah, Prologue was setup nicely for time trials. Not sure why they decided to change the system.

GTmaniac, Plato, and Lefty.

What are you guys doing? There is no time to be doing these time trials and WRS!:sly: I guess there is when you are an alien, but still. I need every lap I can get to put in a good time.

Oooh I feel guilty now...

I haven't done this time trial yet... but I cut the corners whenever I'm on the autodromo monza track in the game. My bf thinks it's pretty much cheating... but I can't help it - it's PAVED. I feel like if something is paved, I can drive on it! LOL.
(This could be why I have such a hard time with the Top Gear Test Track. hahaha)

This all said, I think if it's acceptable for all, then I guess it's fair. But if I joined other people who frowned upon cutting the corners at monza, I'd respect that and not cut the corners. For example, in any online game with other people I would assume cutting those corners was a no-no unless I saw everyone else doing it.

But against AIs or in a time trial... I'm so terrible I really need every little bit. haha. Not like I'd ever be turning in a fantastic time anyway!

 I haven't been doing these time trials, just giving my opinion on what is one of the worst penalty systems I have seen in a racing game.

If it wasn't for the WRS, I don't think I would be playing racing games anymore, but thanks to the WRS team for realizing there was an issue with the penalty system on this game and implementing there own rules and regulations that everyone must follow 👍

i agree with watermelonpunch if its paved and doesnt slow you down i drive on it. hahaha

the line the leader takes is my line i always run at Monza...sorry i dont think its cheating at all.

im not doing that time trial. im learning to be a pro rally driver from Zoky_Cro and others at the moment at Tuscana. im currently 18th.

what does bug me is one awesome driver having multiple accounts. if hes better than me and plays on 2 or more accounts then that makes my position lower and right now i got a sneaky suspicion that someone in the top ten is doing that.

i finished 9th at Cape Ring after three people crashed the wall getting i estimate a 1 second advantage or maybe more and moved above me. some wall crashers pushed me out of top ten but i fought back in and just barely held in there.

cheaters suck but ultimately your really racing yourself. bettering your driving skill and your cars tune and then you need some really awesome luck.

because others cut the chicane at Monza and get a higher position because of it and you think its wrong doesnt mean you cant do the time trial and benifit from doing so.

Dont cut the chicane corner and be especially proud of your replay if you finish top ten. im really proud of mine and im so glad i never crashed the wall to try and win. #9 in the world regardless if others above me cheated is still super ******in' awesome.:)

Good luck catching Zoky in that time trial, me and a lot of the other people are trying to chase him down every week in the WRS, with no end product.

He is a quality driver who is currently division 1 silver, in a week or so would not surprise me at all to see him go up to the elite division with all the other crazy fast drivers :sly:

This link tells you everything you need to know about the WRS if your interested in competing in time trials. Great fun, with the same rules applied for everybody 👍

Plus a great friendly community

+1 decent penalty system > paint rims on standards :indiff:

LOL I'm glad someone else admits to sneakin' it in sometimes.

THough, again, if I was in an online game with other people, I assume that's a no-no, unless otherwise clear it isn't.
But if there wasn't a rule, and everyone was doing it... I'd be a fool not to, right?
Unless I felt really guilty about it! Then it wouldn't be worth it.
Just depends on the situation.

And that's the thing, in a time trial, if everyone can do it, then it's not cheating is it? Not technically.

OTOH, I understand why it ticks people off.

This is a similar but different problem that I see with the online in-game penalty system. Like how sometimes the person doing something "bad" (something considered wrong or inappropriate, by racing standards, or even by any standards), doesn't get the in-game penalty, and someone who did nothing wrong gets one. I got a "shortcut" penalty once because someone knocked me off the road by using my car as a way to brake & turn going around a corner, and that person didn't get a penalty. How is that fair?

But I guess that's how it is if a computer is the referee, it'll never really be quite right & fair. It's never going to be as "smart" as a human watching to see what's going on.

I would consider that out & out cheating. Sort of sounds akin to bidding on your own item in an auction to raise the price.
If your suspicion is true, I hope the person is exposed.
I personally can't imagine what would drive someone to do something as elaborate as that. But some people seem to take more satisfaction in having other people think they've achieved something even if they haven't, than actually achieving anything. And sometimes will actually take more trouble in creating the appearance, than the effort it would take to actually achieve it for real. It's a mystery of the varied nature of humankind I guess. LOL (now where's my smoking jacket?)

So true!

Should it be a penalty? Maybe.
Should it give you instant suspension damage after driving over the rumble strip? ABSOLUTELY!

There are too many places on tracks in this game where taking an unrealistic line is faster than what you would do in real life. It is supposed to be a real driving simulator...so why don't you blow a tire or shock when you drive over rumble strips at 60mph?

Very true also.
Those rumble humps on autodroma monza would be pretty nasty IRL.

OTOH, I don't want it TOO real. IRL, I get car sick when I drive in the rain. LOL And, to be honest, gt5 & the burnout games are the only GAMES that don't make me car sick. LOL. All my bf's other racing games (and other games) make me sick, even to watch!, and years back I GAVE AWAY my gta game because I had to take meclizine to play it & that seemed too far to go for a video game. HA
So I guess I just won't complain about unrealistic, because I don't like driving in real life! haha!!

OTOH, that x1 redbull race car is just silly. Any racecar *I* can drive easily is kind of ridiculous and way unrealistic.

@ Chuyler i remember watching a real world driver in an Elise on tv on a track that was in GT3. i wouldn't hit one particular apex rumble at all. built up to high and huge. he nailed it man going on 2 wheels for awhile afterward...until then i thought i was getting away with murder hitting rumbles i thought should destroy your car and suspension. they dont. altho im still not sure just why.
