Normally I'd agree but our friend continues to show us replays of quite neat and tidy laps with considerable margin (Degner 2 and Spoon especially). Without seeing his whole session it looks like he needs to risk errors and play it less safe given the car has insane downforce and you need to trust it.
But these replays start to play on the nuance of things like dragging the brake a little in to turn one, more not braking for degna 1 and using the downshift etc

The times start to be about the technical aspects not the just keep trying hard.

My point was that each sector has a very specific style to it, which is very very hard to nail in SF cars if you don't drive them often.

It's just different approaches aiming for the same outcome, that's the fun part :)

First stint at Eiger, combo is rather nice, not far from gold, but not sure I have much margin and gold won't stay there.

Optimal well inside gold so maybe...

How did it go? :-)
Firstly, my suspicion was that there may be instances of you getting a pointer from us and it not translating to you in practice. And not because you aren't able do it, but because your driving settings won't allow you.

Secondly, not only is my suspicion confirmed, but I had no idea just how much different the experience would be in AT:
  • First thing I realized was that the way I'd been going 'round in MT simply won't work when I'm in AT. The car simply behaves differently being in AT, so it required me to drive it differently than I had been since this TT started.
  • I had to turn on TC, even if just a little, because the AT won't let me short-shift up to keep the tires from driving forward rather than spinning up. I needed TC to keep them from slipping, which means my exit drive is compromised.
  • Because I don't have full use of engine-braking in AT, I have to trailbrake differently to get into the apexes. Glaring example is the hairpin; AT only goes down to 2nd whereas I go all the way to 1st.
All this to say, while the majority of our pointers you can probably put to use, some pointers may not. I feel like after a handful of laps in AT, I'm bilingual now for this TT. 😝

Well, this is just another strong confirmation that I need to master MT ASAP. I will focus on it. And by the way, if you need any tips on how to drive around Suzuka with AT, let me know:-))

Shaved another 3 tenth off at the Eiger, I like the track and the car is cool, I think I preferred the WRX TT a while back as that car had more turnability, this one is more limited I feel on the controller. Overall though, good fun and a bit more chill than Suzuka which is welcome for an old git like me :D

💀

If you can tell me how to find another six tenths in AT, that'd be awesome. 👌

Hey folks,

I‘ve had very limited time behind the wheel these last few weeks (basically just one session each Thursday) due to a variety of reasons. But that‘s ok, it feels healthy to take a step back, I was kind of at the brink of burning out. Instead I finally pulled Sekiro from my pile of shame and get myself beat up from time to time. 🤣

Anyway, back on topic: I like the new combo way more than the Z4, which gave me a similar feeling to the MX-5 a few months ago (like I was driving at the limit, but everyone was running circles around me). Again, the irony being that I have been driving this sort of car for over 20 years. 🤷‍♂️

Decent time in the Lancer, optimal is a 1:15.1xx. Eiger is still phenonemal in VR. It‘s not impossible that I come back for another session ;)

Happy lapping folks, and congrats @Metalgear9493 for your historic achievement!

First session of the new combo is finished. I thought the gold time was the silver time at first, so the first 15ish laps were full of overdriving the car and lots of invalidated times. I backed out of the session to reset myself and noticed that I was actually only a tenth off gold. I went back in and got a reasonably comfortable gold time. The Evo needs a handbrake for this one. It’s so hard to get it to rotate!

Morning folks

I was hoping for more after my remote shenanigan yesterday but could not get that much time off 🤣
Plus the first few corners are very hard for thr hands on the pad for me due to thr amount and time under trailbraking, by the time you reach the long right hander braking into that does hurt 🤣🤣

very descent combo!, and the first track on a TT were im sightseeing while tire squeeking 🤣

ABS weak seems better btw

@crome Good to have you on the board again , and sometimes a little step back is necessary, good to hear your ok 😁

What are the S1 & S2 split times of those on top of global leaderboard, for Eiger TT? haven't checked while at home and now at work :) so if someone is in front on PS :)

haven't really had enough time to try it properly, and not tried suzuka at all, but it is great pleasure Eiger one on montion control for sure, love it
I would just leave Suzuka 😂 i golded it and ran with the Eiger wind ... 😂
The difference in level of fun between the two is huge for me, Eiger is such a beautifull track, very jaleous of the guys running VR, must be absolutely epic.
Love those elevations and that constant turbo sound, even noticed a running train this morning 😂😂
it think it's going to be very hard to enter the top 100 in the end but i'll have a lot of fun trying 😂
