well I think I've about had enough of trying to get this tank around the course any faster. I can run laps all day long within half a second of my PB but anything I do to try and go any faster just ends up with me off the track - often completely un-expectedly. Its infuriating to take a corner in what feels like perfect comfort thinking you're about to gain some big time only to lightly touch the throttle and find the rear tires are apparently no longer in contact with the road surface. On Saturday I felt like I was going to hit gold without too much trouble, but instead I hit a solid wall and haven't improved since..after a lot of laps! Looks like it's silver for me on this one.
Mate, I know how you feel because I thought I couldn't gold it too. Not only the car is a handful (even though I like it) but this track was always a pain inducing thing. Since GT2 and the damn Viper license...

But!

There's a flow to be found in this TT. I'm gonna pass what @Gomario JSP shared. Focus on the exits, be easy on the gas. For me personally, I found time by holding the brakes a little bit more than I think I should. (Re) watch the guides and pay attention to where the car is positioned when the fast guys hit the gas. It's crazy and counterintuitive (to me at least) but you have to enter corners slowly to find this better exit point.

After some many laps, I'll say I'm not breaking into top 1000 or even my regular 2% mark, but I guess I have been learning a lot in this TT.

Gee.... I may even be on the verge to starting enjoy Laguna Seca....

Snuck into gold w/1:28.491 but probably not safe. What helped me was to look at my apex speeds. T2 thru T5 were all too slow and only after rigorously practicing those could I get into the bottom half of the 1:28s.

Will attempt to throw TC at zero. It’s activating on the corkscrew which I’m sure is slowing me.

Heard some of you saying the DeLorean (and I hope you liked my brief "what the hell is a 2004 S2?" explanation in the article) was easy and fun, so at a loose end I hopped on the pad for a couple of laps.

Gold by 0.044 on lap one, couple of messy faster sector sighters, and gold by 0.5s on lap four.

Easy, but... more fundersteer than fun. Okay it wasn't bad, I guess.

Do it. I found TC to be utterly useless here. The torque is just too insane. In most spots you need to throttle control anyways and in others it unnecessaryly kicks in.

To me it seemed like counter steer assist in strong helped but I am not sure if this was a real help or imagined. It wasn't night and day at all but it somehow felt more stable and yet fast.
I don't think this is real. Look at what the account is called and what they post...

Plus the picture itself looks very unreal.
I always thought I was good at spotting fake content but here I was duped. Good find. Welcome to the new age where trusting your own eyes and instincts isn't gonna cut it anymore.

My third session wasn’t going very well at Laguna Seca and I was beginning to think I wouldn’t improve, but I managed to pull another 10th out of the lap.

I’d already stayed up way too much but the next lap was absolutely flying and I was up another .15 seconds up when….

Disappointingly I lost it in the corkscrew. With that demoralizing finish I gave up for the night with an unclaimed optimal in the 1:27.4s.

But hey, top 500. That’s good for me.

Still using TCS2 and ABS weak.

IRL the GT350 is one of my all-time-favourite-cars. I love the look, the fact it is (was) only available with a manual gearbox and that earthshaking sound (in case you know it only from GT7, check it out on youtube!).

But in GT7 it was a bit different. I remember driving it a full lap in a licence test was pure agony!
My 1st session predicted nothing else:
1 Gran Turismo™ 7_20250501160242.jpg

But in day 2 i slowly understood how to drive the beast. I set a time that was with 2,97% just so in the gold area.
At friday afternoon i got my PSVR2 and a first test in the TT wasn't promising. It felt like starting from scratch. Saturday was much the same, but yesterday morning things changed.
I slowly improved my time with VR until i equaled my flatscreen time. After about 12 laps i reached an optimal of 1:28,0.
At the end i finished with a time i consider as safe gold:

I'm very happy with that! Especialy as it seems i'm not slower in VR than on a flat screen. And almost reaching Top 1000 is nothing i do regularly.

I believe you'll get to be consistently faster in VR with most cars (for some the in car experience will be worse) but for most, being in the "seat" you'll get a much better understanding of what the car is doing than in flatscreen. Braking will become more intuitive but I also like to line up braking markers using points around the windscreen for reference. I find this to be more consistent as well.

Welcome to the VR club!

Unfortunately, my cry to the community to stop bettering the DeLorean TT wasn't met with universal approval and I found myself in the silver range (3.03%) over the weekend - decided to give another go and quite a few laps later I was back to gold, maybe this time I'm a bit safer:

My optimal is currently 1:49.663 but I'd rather not chase it again, so please, don't make it harder than it already is :)

I also tried to post a better time at Laguna Seca, unfortunately, I could only once go below 1:30 and that was still worse than my current time... gonna have to record my lap and ask for your advice I guess :)

About 200km put into the DeLorean to get a sub 48 time. Another tenth and a bit in the optimum.

Didn't really enjoy driving this car, too much understeer on the throttle and didn't seem to have all that much power (or an interesting engine note). Struggled considerably getting the braking right into the first hairpin and the final corner, so that was where I was losing the most time on the lap.

Don't feel the need to advance more than this, quite happy with the sub 48.

Hopefully the next trial is a bit more interesting.

Also attempted the GT350 around Laguna... is that track full of ice? Never driven a factory car without any modifications that felt so nervous all the time. That ones going to take a lot of getting used to before I get anywhere near the limit.

I switched to an orange Shelby because orange is…. quicker. Everybody knows that. :D:D

You know, it worked!

GT7 | Leguna Seca TT | Orange is faster | Top 400 Gold

I’m finding this an enjoyable combo. I’ve said this before, I like Laguna Seca for time trials but I hate sport races there.

After the tests i saw and read i didn't expected to be as fast as on flatscreen or even faster, i just hoped for more fun. But e.g. i somehow can sense much earlier when the car starts to loose grip and can react to that. I should have done the "VR step" much earlier!
And i always wanted to get rid of that +/- time (delta, i don't know if that's right). For me that was like "oh 2 tenths faster. now bring it home" and i very often didn't made it. Without it, it's just less pressure.
I like Laguna Seca for time trials
Same here! The AMG GT3 TT 8 months ago was the 1st TT that really catched me. I spend hours and hours to make it gold. And i didn't expected the GT350/Laguna combo to be that much fun, but it was!

The NBA Playoffs have made for good viewing so far, but they've pretty much taken up the time I would normally have TTing. Fortunately, I'm working from home today and it's looking like a light workload for the day for me, so I'm going to try and hope to secure a Gold at the Laguna TT.

I can't let this car break my streak of Gold, and at my backyard circuit at that! 😖

Go Dubs! lol

Time continues to be tight at the moment but I managed a couple of sessions in the DeLorean, getting more to grips with it's maritime movements. I will try to improve further if I get the chance before the deadline. Not really touched the Shelby yet, other than to confirm my fears that it is has all the poise and dexterity of a brick dropped down a well, if I get Gold, I'll move on.

Hope all is well with you guys

Super frustrated with Laguna. I had the best Corkscrew of my life and top sector 3 time on my fast lap, but turns 5 and 6 of course were awful. As an added kick to the balls, I was up by half a second on my next lap heading up the hill to the Corkscrew, only to get in too deep and slide off the right side. Optimal was a 1:26.8. :banghead:

I found 8 tenths in the kitty last night. I don't normally leave soo much time on the table after the first week. I think it comes down to taking the right lines and pushing the car through the more technical sections. I must admit that driving the DeLorean on the edge is quite fun, especially when you're millimetres from the wall. The closer you are, the more time you'll find.

Morning folks,

I woke up seeing my 26.944 already hanging on a thread on page one..... place 93....I thought it would bring me further down the week 🤣, so definitely a good .8xx needed to stay in there I guess....

So I had to go again, such a frustrating one I'm feeling your pain here @Dolph Drago it's too slidy to get consistent, that's my main problem.
It's a pure lotery on a whole bunch of laps...
I had somany good runs until the bridge..... or somany bad runs and then a extremely good yeeet at turn 6 ....

Optimals were going down but again....those say nothing if there is no consistency...

After getting multiple .9xx I finally hit a .843 what bought me back at place 66, not to Shaabbbyy at all but it was kind of a scruffy lap to be honest...

1000032698.jpg

So hoping to have a more steady lap I kept trying but failed a lot....
Until I finally hit something better, no way near the optimals but again.......those say nothing...🤣

I had kind of a bad T4 due to hitting the sausage but strangely it didn't cost me that much speed compared to P1
Last sector was very close on the sausages though....., this is realy the key for T9 and T10, that banking has to be used exactly right or you throw major time away right there.

But.....across the line in 1:16.712
Still room but it's the most frustrating one we had in a while..... just a lotery

But ill take it 😁🤣
P44..... not to Shaabbbyy at all 😁
Hope this sticks for a top 100 😁

I wanted to get a 1.48 in the DeLorean before giving Laguna Seca a proper go...
Managed a 1.48.999 🤷‍♂️
There is still some time to gain, Optimal is showing 1.48.8xx but don't think its worth the effort.
Will be putting my focus on the Shelby now. Got my work cut out as i'm just out of silver after a 10-lap stint :odd:
