My theory about a fully charged controller vs one with a low amount of charge was proven yesterday. For the majority of my session last night, I used my red controller and I really struggled to put a good lap together. Shortly after I switched to my fully charged black controller, I noticed an immediate improvement and I was suddenly able to get a better handle on the car. I went from a 2:05.690 to the time you see here within 25 minutes.

This is a revelation if true.

Maybe you were tired and not focused well, when I don't get enough sleep, my racing is off 80% of the time. Maybe Saturday and Sunday will be better for you, :)

Have you tried the assists and watching a replay that is slightly faster than your 2.08.XXX time? That might help some getting you a higher rank/medal. Now, it might take many laps to earn a high silver or low gold. But I feel confident that you will be able to get it done.

Good luck this weekend.

You're right Mate. If I'm mentally exhausted, I never play the TT as this requires focus & attention on high level. Before I play in the evenings, I take a power nap just to refresh my mind before attempting the TT.

I'm not sure if that is a serious post, so ignore me if it was comedy. I don't play with the controller and don't have a view on your hypothesis, but must point out that another interpretation of your experience is:
  • Played some and struggled
  • Played some more and got better
Which happens to most of us every week.

May i add a controller question as there is no better thread until I'd open a new one:

I always played with controller settings at low throttle trigger force, high brake trigger force and medium/"moderate" rumble. Now i changed the rumble/vibration up to high and through that i butchered the controller batteries play time to about 50%.

I now often have to recharge after every session. Ist the impact of that setting really that severe or do i have two controllers which batteries just started t struggle at the same time?

It's cause of the batteries Mate. The vibration at the end takes place because of the batteries within. I even keep my Controller light to dim instead of default or bright. Small things make a difference.

Morning folks,

So i had my second serious look at the RX7 at the GP layout, this time with CS on suggested by @Metalgear9493 that helpt a bit indeed, also on the pad, but....... 🤣
There a two points on this combo that are almost undoable on the pad, the Schumacher's corner (fast S uphill) is pure hell and you have to lift somuch to even make it, it's terrible.
Then the last chicane, there is no way I can yeet it like you fast bastards and its pure roulette .

This one, for my drivingstyle is not realy pad friendly 🤣 (sure some will disagree, 🤣)

My goal was a 2.02 today and that worked out after a lot of failure so don't know if I'm going to put a lot of efford in this one to be honest.

Thats pure bollard licking action right there 🤣

You got close...... and you got realy close ....

I added the ghost follow lap too in the upload, Metal at 0.4.
Nicely shows the problem points i have here (and how frustrating fast you are 🤣)

In terms of the controller discussion above, I have 3 and besides the possible stickdrift inpersonally feel no difference on battery use 😉

Good weekend,

I'll have to use the black controller when it's low on charge to successfully prove my theory. There's obviously too much conjecture at the moment but I had several issues on corner exit where I kept losing the back end with the red controller. With the black controller, I was able to drive out of corners much better and didn't have any issues. It very much felt like the controls were tighter and more in sync with less delay, ensuring more timely inputs.

Hi,

I haven't been in here for ages - Incredibly busy at home here as retirement is now here. (Yippeeeeeeeeee)

I am hoping that this means when things do calm down I can spend more time doing the TT's. My favourite part of GT7.

It is with some regret and just a little bit of shame that I have to inform you all that 3 traffic cones were injured during the Willow Springs trial....

Not serious injuries - All three are expected to make a full recovery!!! 🤪

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Yey, more time for sunday Titans races :)

Congrats on your retirement

Glad my CSA advice helped! Nice lap! Seems as though you have a very proficient understanding of what it takes to maximise a lap, ever considered purchasing a wheel? 🥂
Thanks!, it has been not to shabby at all these days with some efford and a good ghost to follow 👌
The wheel definitely is going to come, daughter is 21, the moment she's out that room is claimed 🤣

I have everything on max and just accept that this drains the battery really quickly. A second controller ready to switch is essential. Battery lasts for maybe 2-4 hours if I had to guess (rarely ever play that long so not sure).

Oh man, and mine will be 3 soon. That's too long! But I'll settle for a Playseat Challenge in front of the TV when she's in school and doesn't set the flat on fire with every second move. Plus, it's written that the Playseat works from 120cm and up and she's already very interested in driving.

Excellent times. The bollards at Spa await your return. :D

Isn't it amazing how busy you are now that you're retired? I'm as busy as ever since I retired 12 years ago.

🤣 3 years old...... thats exhausting 🤣🤣 I have been looking at those too, the challenge with a less expensive wheel to just fold up and put in the closet 😁

I seem to recall, in bracket racing, when you ran a lower time than your assigned bracket, it was called "breaking out" and was usually penalized in some way.
Oh, i thought braking into 2:04s means 2:04,999 for example.
So, yeah, breaking (not braking) into the 2:04s would be as you say.

I ran 160km and broke into 2:04, but couldn't into 2%, maybe csa strong will help.
Perhaps this is a language issue. As I see, they appear to have "broke out" of the 2:04s and "into" the 2:03s.
Might just be pedantic semantics though, since they posted the thing worth a thousand words. ;)

It’s been a week since I sat in my cockpit and I return to…

…a combo I will gladly swear at. A tuner car (that wants to drift) and Nurburgring GP; both rank about as delightful as being stun by 100 jellyfish. 🤬

I took to hours to get to this. I finally figured out that setting TCS on to 1 would help me from power oversteering into a barrier.

Hopefully, being several days in now, the WR won’t change too much and I won’t have to come back.

Morning folks,

Didn't realy had the motivation to get back in the RX7, and noticed I almost (98) dropped out of top 100 on the Streets of Willow, so gave that another try.

Felt a little better to be a bit more agressive on the throttle particular in the final sector....Yeeet....slide... and pray you won't hit the last cone on thr mainstraight 🤣

Important note : No cones were harmed 😁
Safely on the first page with all cones on track whoop whoop 🤣
(did the start shenanigan though l) 🙄🤣

Right behind @half_sourly quite a lap you did put in there 😵‍💫😵‍💫🤣👌

Happy to hit a .585

1000038614.webp

Like the RX7 trial I added the ghost lap after the normal lap, as usual Metal @ 0.4 seconds with reset.

Thanks. It was also with no cones moved - I'm just way too inconsistent to use that method. I had another go yesterday and often I'd only get past corner one maybe one in ten restarts, mostly because I misjudge the start loop and don't get the optimal start-line speed (in which case no point in going on, as it won't be a 17.7xx no matter what, and I need that for a best time), or I misjudge the brake release point for turn one and go too wide or too narrow.

I suspect that, despite a theoretical optimum of a low 1:25.2xx, I've reached my practical peak. It has been a great TT though; just what I needed to put some time in again.

Oppose that to the latest one, with one of my least favourite corners and a car that keeps beeping at me... I did five laps to just post a safe gold time and won't be back.
