I’m enjoying this TT. Had a successful first day with the Mazda but the final sector is killing me! If I get a good launch down the back straightaway I am easily up a couple tenths; I’ll try more today. This is on ABS Weak, CSA Strong and TCS 0.
Good work fluff! I spent more laps than I care to admit trying to match your time today. Then I come here and learn everyone is gaining big time with CSA. I don’t say that to discredit you, just that I feel like a doof for missing this opportunity 🥲

Thank you @Wilsonson for sharing your lap! I am still at the mountain and although today was not my day for time trialing I could already improve massively. If you can find my new optimum among all the red numbers... 😆

Today I tried Deep Forest and almost got gold!

I just watched your lap, impressive run. All your turns were really smooth, great work! You'll get to gold soon at that rate. Good luck mate. That sharp turn after the last tunnel always gets me. Either I run slam into the wall or I brake too early and lose valuable time. Never fails.

Is it even possible to get gold in these races with the controller?
The difference between the wheel and the controller arent that bad in most of the combo's, so no excuse :)
i am at 47.641 on the Duelsense and should be still some time to find but is still top 100
There are some real fast controller users in the top 100, Calster is a controller user to for example.
( makes guides on youtube to btw )

So.... yes :)

And Tidgney has a few times now on his weekly guides shown that gold with a controller is possible on his first lap with the controller. Which he uses only once a week.

All that said regarding it being possible, don't beat yourself up if you cannot get gold (or any medal for that matter). Over the 166 events so far, 89.4% of drivers on average do not get gold and 64.8% don't even get silver.

You are right to remind us of this, our perspective here is skewed towards the top of the ranks.

But something we don't know is how hard those who did not get medals tried. As an example, on the last monthes, I barely did more than one lap on each TT, if I even tried the TT, and I've just driven more some combos I've found more enjoyable. So most of the time it was a quick and easy way to get some credits, one lap for 250k and sometimes a few more to reach 1M, plus some rare occasions, like the 12R right now where I got close enough to gold quickly and with a combo I enjoy so I insisted a bit more.

And those stats, not only involve a lot of people who barely tried just to get a few bucks, but also concern a small percentage of player base.

Nitpick: 65% don't even get silver. 10.6 + 24.6 (love your stats)

yeah, even if you tilt controller to steer, still possible :D
That's exactly me! I can't control the joysticks, so I use the gyroscope. I can control the steering more smoothly with the gyroscope, but I feel like it makes me lose out on steering input, as if it's less responsive and has a slower reaction time. But that's more of an excuse for why I rarely get gold.

I'm really curious. Anyone else using gyro controls? What are your stats?
As @Lomic described, 1-2 laps are enough for me to get bronze; there's no limit. For silver, 10 laps are usually enough, sometimes more, sometimes less. If I want gold, then I have to load ghosts, and even then, very rarely. I'd even say I'm most often in the 3.5-4.5% range.

all true. However, it's worth remembering that these online TTs are one of the only "non-grind" ways to earn decent credits in the game. And 250K for the bronze really isn't "decent credits" (in a game with a whole bunch of cars costing 1-20M credits.) So while it's true that some will just drop in and do a lap for bronze, I'd say one of the big reasons they don't at least go for the silver (with it's significantly higher payout) is because they know they'd have to invest some real time into the effort - in other words, they know it won't be easy money. I think it's also sort of telling that such a small percentage of the player base even takes part in the events. You have to get a certain distance into the game before it's even available so it's sort of filtered to be people who are a little more committed generally. The fact that even that slightly more serious group still only mostly manage bronze (or less) and such a relatively small percentage hit gold suggests that gold is a pretty high bar.

250k for less than 3min (most of the time) is one of the best ratio credits/time you can get, it is like 50 3* tickets for which you need to drive +42km, that's 1M per month for 12 minutes of your time, vast majority of events does not give you so much even for much longer time racing, so it is worth taking

getting 4 times that with silver if you need to learn the track and the car a bare minimum, will take you much more than 3 minutes unless you are capable enough to get silver in one lap (those are the people who get gold everytime or most of the time)

as for the amount of people not partaking, how many are aware that you need PS+ for Sport Mode, but not for TTs which are accessible in Sport Mode ?

for those who know, TT are also a good way to remind you how crap you are at this game 🤣 because you see directly what's the WR time is and how far you are

yep, that's really the point I'm making. Sure, 250K for bronze is OK for a couple minutes effort (although ultimately it's still only 250K per week max which is a pretty slow trickle of funds)...but 1M credits is significantly better. If it was easy to do, everyone would do it. So it's pretty telling that so many don't.

lol, yeah. I mean I'd consider myself a fairly committed player and my "jam" in the game is just doing laps. I'm not all that interested in racing at all...I just love trying to beat my own times on the tracks. So the online TT events are right up my alley...and yet getting gold is often quite a chore for me even still! There's basically never a time where I just hit the track and set a gold time after a few laps. Aside from the silly events at Daytona that is. The current Stang @ Bathurst event took me AGES to finally gold - and it's not a very safe gold at that!

You and I are so weird, our times are often close but we sort of get there with totally different preference. The Mustang I hit gold within 10 laps and the Mazda within 5 or 6 laps but the Stratos at Eiger .... just nope.

lol yeah it's weird how some some car/track combos seem to work for one person and be totally toxic for another. I often seem to have a hard time with events that are considered to be pretty easy by many others...
