One of the most annoying issues I face are on high-speed circuits where once you start, the car doesn't have enough speed as it should have at the start/finish line.

So basically, you're forced to do another lap or go backwards enough before you can start your time attack. If you make a mistake on the hot lap itself, you are forced run the whole track again :banghead:

There are two ways PD could solve this:
1. Have the car running at a calculated speed before you gain control.
2. Move the starting position further up the track (although option 1 would be more convenient).

Tracks where this issue is present:
- Daytona Road Course
- Special Stage Route 7
- Monza (No Chicane)

What are your thoughts?

But that's the case in any motor race, the first lap will always be slower wether it's rolling start or grid start. PD have surely got to keep it as close to real life as poss don't you reckon? If it bothers you that much about the first lap then surely your 2nd option of turning back and giving yourself more of a run up would suit you better?

don't forget about the cold tyres.

In Simbin's Race07 time trial mode you always start a few corners from the line, and you have perfect temperature in your tyres. Unless both things are done it doesn't matter how well positioned you are for the line, you still won't get an optimal lap.

My 2nd lap is when I start to think about going for a time.

1st lap is really just to get some heat into the tires

I reckon it's better like this, tbh I think it'd be even better if it started with the car exiting the pits.

2. Move the starting position further up the track

This, otherwise you could end up in a situation where you didn't have as much speed on a 'flying lap' as you did on 1st lap. That would be stupid.

I like it the way it is on every track except the Nurburgring. Often I don't have the time/patience to do 2 laps since the first part of the first lap is just waiting for the tires to warm up. Every other track I don't mind doing a full lap to warm up the tires and get in rhythm, but the Nurburgring could really use warm tires to start with.
