I thought this was an interesting thing.

There are a few others in there. They came out pretty good, from what I can tell. I wish there was more information about how he did it. There should be a set time for the increment and such so that you can see the speed the car was traveling gauged by the seperation between where the car is in the image.

Not sure Loud, but I think it has something to do with the shutter rate. If you slow it down enough, you get multiple pictures into one. I'm not 100% sure on that, so give it a look.

:odd:

I know how to do timelaps, I just wish he would have included what his procedure was and had something more predictable like a fixed exposure increment time.

There are a couple ways of doing this. With film you expose the film without advancing it. With digital I assume it would be easier to use our friend Photoshop to manipulate the images.

i think he used photoshop because if he didnt advance the film, wouldnt you have a time lapse with the other images too...look at the black miata(i think) and the white car in the top right...shouldnt they be moving as well...and the people...they should be in time lapse...especially the two guys by the light pole in the center

I believe the cars are waiting for their turn. And the two guys by the pole I believe are the same guy. Keep in mind this all takes place in about four to six seconds.

Check out the dude running in the background in this one.

Leads me to believe he was using fixed time increments.

That's cool, took me a little bit to figure out it was the same car going around the track at different spots. I'm sure if you had a camera set up on a tripod, and could take pictures fast, you could get the car in those different spots. Maybe even if you had a digital video camera, you would have 'em all in the same spot, and be able to photoshop them in the same place.

oh yeah i never looked closely at it, it does look like the same guy

Sorry guys, had to fix the title on this thread...

It's easy to do digitally, because you can cut/paste the car in in each case, using other items (such as the white lines) as reference markers. On film it's harder, because you have to correctly expose both the car and the background. You can generally set the camera not to wind the film forward between frames, or use a black card as a manual shutter.
