Timing of the Aug 1st Update

Anyone know exactly how this will play out? Mostly curious when the update will be made available and how it will effect us. I would assume they have to take the online races down for at least a brief period of time right? And I would assume you couldn't be racing someone who doesn't have the update if they are changing the penalty structure. I won't be online that night until late but I could easily login to download the update in the middle of the day to save me time later that night.

It will be available as of August 1st, as for how it will effect us....wait & see.

No, because as of midnight on August 1st the new races will start and the old ones will end, just like they do normally.

There should be no shut down of the online races.

And I would assume you couldn't be racing someone who doesn't have the update if they are changing the penalty structure.

Like all other games, I'm assuming you wont be allowed to connect to the servers unless you have the update installed. So no update means no online play.

The way it works, I bet If you do not choose to update, you can't go online, and race. Only guys with Update can be online and race. Servers may be down for couple of hours.

Quick question, They say there will be faster DOWNLOAD speeds. Does that mean during the patch? or after you patch your game up?

my news section bulletin said that at 1am GMT on the 1st i will be able to download. so i guess wherever you are at, at whatever time 1am GMT is for you, you can download it....

As I understand it, the low download speeds are due to the code of the game. Therefore, faster downloads will only be available when you installed the update, so the download of the update itself will not be quicker than previous downloads.

you are right there my fellow city man....as soon as you will start your game it will first ask you to download the update by itself,just like the previous updates....
and yes the online servers will be down for several hours,also like the previous times....

Besides after people update they get the GTTV content like Topgear. They might add a few new servers(they add connections in the update perhaps).

it will! everything a big update from PD they normally get to around 60% then fail. then they take ages to get anywhere.

if by normal updates it will take a good hour lol
