Has anyone made a *written* guide with tips on how to pass the S license tests with high marks?
I know there's the video, but I think it's nice to have a written guide.
I'm aiming for silver on all of them.
I got silver on a few of them just with good acceleration, and good lines, etc. But some really need good strategy for a better-than-bronze win.
Here's some tips I came up with, on the tougher ones for me:
Circuit de la Sarthe: You can actually "cheat" on this one a little... certain corners, you can almost completely cut! :-} Mostly the ones without normal borders on them.
There's one right near the beginning, that there are tire skid marks to give you the hint.
Then there's the area near the start of the looong straightaway. You can cut both the right, and/or left sides
Suzuka course: ouch. no cheats, just strategy. I failed this over and over again, until I realized that I couldnt just floor it all the time and squeek by on the inside when I get close -- the competitors hog the corner, leaving no room for you!
So the strategy I found during the initial-S corners, was to slow down a little bit, but not ALL the way. You then have to trust that they are going to move out of the way in time.
Tough to explain,but.. You cant just min/max on gas/break all the time.
You have to keep enough speed to have passing speed, but also time it so that you catch up to them on the point when they are going to move out of the way.
Turning on the "drive line" hint was useful in this respect: not so much for my own line, but so that I had a view on what line THEY were going to use, so I'd have a better idea of where they where going to be moving out of the way.
Also, the drive line was distracting with the big "red" markers that normally mean "use brake". But do NOT use brake for most of the initial S section! It's uphill, so just taking foot off the accelerator, gives you a bit of natural "brake".
