Tips on buying TV for GT5

Hello GTPlanet,
I believe my TV has broken or at least needs to be fixed so I am thinking of buying a new TV to play GT5 on. I would like some tips on selecting a TV that will make the game look and play great.
I'm thinking of spending around a $1000 Canadian.
I'd like to know what size, display type, and resolution are best for GT5 and the PS3.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Basically any full HD (1080P) LCD should do ya fine. Although the bigger the better I say - I have a Samsung 46" model and it makes everything look fabulous. But don't be tempted by plasma - they eat more power, are bulkier, and more unreliable than an LCD. Also with plasma, the screen can be very dark in a well lit room, no matter how hard you try to turn up the contrast/brightness. Rule of thumb is, LCD is best for games, Plasma is best for movies.
 
If you still want TV get a 1080p LCD (doesn't matter which one your choose)

!or if you don't care about the TV aspect, go for a 1080p PC monitor I'm going to buy a 24'' ASUS VH242H it's worth a check out it's only 180 bucks at the moment (by the way thanks TB)

When the December GT5 TT demo came out I was still using a standard, non HD TV. When I played the GT5 TT, a lot of the car was cut off from the screen, so I knew I had to get an HDTV.

Since it was December there were quite a few Christmas deals going on, so if you can wait a little bit, I'd try to get one then.

For what it's worth, I bought a 1080P, 32" HDTV for $300 when they were usually double that. I think it is really worth it if you wait.
 
so, you guys rent recommending he get a 120hz/240hz tv/monitor for 3d ? or is it only pc games that need 120hz monitors?

Absolute rubbish, plasma tvs are no more unreliable than any other piece of electronics if taken care of the way you would any other piece of kit you have.

As for bulky, my 50" LG is about an inch and a half thick at the thickest point of the tv, hardly eating up the floor space is it.

There was a time when plasma screen used to eat electricity for breakfast but todays models are much much better, im not goin to pretend they dont consume power but the top models are now very comparable to lcd atleast and interms of picture quality there's absolutley no comparison.

I have Samsung 7 Series LED backlit LCD TV but to be honest I wouldn't recommend it. There's a lot of input lag which makes playing games quite frustrating, I notice it especially with FPS like killzone 2 or halo 3.

Dude, on the Samsung Series 7 try going to Menu, down to "Setup" and to the "General" menu, and turn on "Game Mode".

It turns off all the processing and the input lag disappears. Trust me i own the same TV and its a great LCD. I had the same problem with Call of Duty 6, it felt so sluggish, but as soon as i went game mode its sharp as anything

Yeah ive got the series 6 and use the game mode. Its as good as any, probably better than most for games. Plus ive saved a fair bit on electricity.
