I recently made a post about the "For a More Realistic Driving Experience" tire table. I appreciate the responses. I was thinking a bit about what I saw in previous discussions about selecting tires (Stock Tires, 11/28/08) in game that correlate with the real-life stock counterparts for a given car. Most of the discussion was related to the brands and types of real tires used for the car, or experience in game and with real cars compared against each other. Does anyone think that, at the very least, a segregation of vehicles into tire classes could be made using their real-world skidpad ratings? For example, cars that score less than .90 on the skidpad might get N1 tires, cars between .91 and .95 get N2, etc. My tire choices are purely arbitrary, and meant just as an example for the grouping concept I had in mind. I also realize that skidpad data might not be available for all cars, but nevertheless does the idea have any merit?
