Tires squeals are so loud why are they like that? We need an option to turn tire sounds down ASAP

Edit: I changed my sound settings from Large Theater to Small Theater it's alot better now I guess my surround system isn't for the Large Theater option :)

With default volume settings it's really bad with headphones. They need a separate volume slider for engine and tire sounds.

I also noticed that the squeal seemed to get higher pitched as the grip was maxed out. The high pitched sound made me want to ease up because it hurt my ears. It was a neat indicator in a way but loosing what's left of my hearing isn't worth it. I despise high pitched squealing when wearing headphones.

Since I've went online I have turned all the settings down because I enjoy chatting with friends. It would be really handy if they separate volume settings for offline and online use. Yet another option that would make this game better.

I do agree that I like having the audio indicator of my grip levels, but sometimes it's so loud that it is more distracting than helpful. A separate setting would really be cool.

The tire sounds are one thing about the audio that PD got right, you can really tell how much grip you have by listening. It would be nice to tone them down slightly, mostly because engine sounds are so bad / weak.

Thing is though, when is the last time you heard a full out racing car's tires squeal? It makes sense on most road cars because the engines won't be loud enough to overpower the tire sounds, but for loud cars we shouldn't be able to hear the tires almost at all.

It really is annoying since the tire squeal in game is so ridiculously loud.

That and the tire sounds don't really sound that realistic.

I agree! The tyre sound is way to high, couldn't almost here my veyron's engine.

The tire sounds are there for a reason, albeit a little loud but extremely helpful in determining if you can push you car a little more, or if you are going to die.

I put in some custom music and while driving the FXX at SS5, I heard this sick techno beat, so I lowered my Race Sound Effects to 0 and raced. Gigantic difference in my driving quality, you can't really tell how far you can push your car unless you constantly look at your tire grip indicator, which then distracts you from driving so you die. Michael Schumacher would be severely disappointed in how I treated his FXX that day.

Don't get me wrong. I like the tire noise. It is the best way to determine when you are too close to the edge. I would just like a little control over it because I don't need it to be as loud as it is. That's not MY style.

I personally like the tire sounds, gives me an indication when I'm pushing the car too much w/c doesn't really help with lap times...I like it better than the car suddenly breaking loose without warning.

I tried easing up too but pressing the breaks or turning caused the tires to squeal louder and with TC set on 3 and SRF off, TC off is worse and using Sports Medium tires on my 1978 Trans AM Black Special Edition 530hp NA and over 600ft-lbs. I have only a couple ideas to cut down on the squealing of the tires better suspension, LSD and Sports Soft tires. I was racing on Willow Springs the Muscle Car race National A.

I am over the noise. Other games send feedback to my wheel which indicates loss of grip, which is so much better.

Don't complain about the tyre squeal just stop driving like a tool and you wont hear it 👍

You must drive like a girl and be happy with last place!

I feel like the comfort and sport tire makes pretty realistic noise, though the race tire seem kinda odd, I've never heard slicks make those noise...

The noise on sport tyres and at low PP are entirely realistic ............. if you were spectating from the trackside!! I refuse to believe for a moment that you would hear that level of tyre noise from inside the car, unless you'd stripped out every ounce of sound proofing and drove with the windows down...

{Cy}

I've only done track days and autoX where you have to drive with windows down...so I think that noise sounds about right...:D

With surround sound headphones it's very annoying. I'm all for audio feedback info and think the differing grip level sound is very informative, but the pitch is so high it really is off putting. Fine with my TV speakers but that's a major step down in immersion.

I think the tires noise is great. I use headphones and a reasonable amount of volume and don't have a problem with it at all.

That said, I'd like to see an "advanced" sound menu as well. Keep the master slider but in the advanced options give me the ability to turn up or down engine, exhaust, transmission (which would have fixed GT5 for me), wind noise, AI cars, friends cars, etc. Get really detailed so I can fully customize my audio experience. Add a checkbox to lower the volume by some percent in online rooms for chat so I don't have to adjust anything when going back and forth.

It seems this "real driving simulator" thing is being taken a bit too far. :D
